Busy Season 2024

In Hopkins County, we have three busy seasons each year. Busy Season Number Two lasts through graduation season and Father’s Day. Then, when summer sets in, everyone is doing their own thing. Busy season number three begins with the school season, going through the holiday season, and ending on Dec. 31. Get ready, because busy seasons in Hopkins County are not for sissies!

Busy Season 2024 #2 is about to kick off. The spring/early summer season is going to be packed full of memorable moments to enjoy in our community. Here are but a few (additions from readers are welcome):

„ Limited numbers of free eclipse glasses are being offered at Sulphur Springs Public Library.

„ St. Patrick’s Day is Sunday, March 17.

„ Spring begins Tuesday, March 19.

„ Palm Sunday is March 24.

„ Good Friday is March

29.

„ Easter is Sunday, March 31.

„ April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.

„ April Fool's Day is Monday, April 1.

„ Hopkins County Heritage Park, 416 N. Jackson St., will be open on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 7 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. $10 adults, $5 children.

„ On Monday, April 8, Heritage Park will offer Eclipse Parking at $20 per vehicle. There will be a concession stand, restrooms, and an open field for viewing the eclipse. Bring lawn chairs.

„ The total solar eclipse will take place on Monday, April 8. In Sulphur Springs, the partial darkness will begin in the noon hour at 12:25, with total darkness expected for four minutes and 21 seconds between 1:42 p.m. and 1:47 p.m. The partial darkness will be completed by 3:05 p.m. For more details, go to the Chamber’s information site at totaleclipsesstx.com.

„ A free health fair on April 10 at The ROC from 9 a.m. until noon „ Man Bingo, or MINGO, comes up on Thursday, April 18, at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, with doors opening at 5 p.m., games beginning at 6 p.m., and proceeds going the the Hopkins County Healthcare Foundation.

„ The Market on Main Street downtown shopping event will be held Saturday, April 20.

„ An Earth Day celebration is planned on Celebration Plaza on April 20.

Everyone is welcome.

„ John Chester Dutch Oven Cooking Class is April 20 at Hopkins County Heritage Park from 8 a.m. until noon. Registration is $20 per person. To sign up for the class, contact Rick Wilson at 903-335-2752.

„ City-Wide Cleanup Week is April 22 to 27, sponsored by the City of Sulphur Springs.

„ Mother's Day is Sunday, May 12.

„ Memorial Day is Monday, May 27.

„ Father's Day is Sunday, June 16.
