Being The Youngest Sibling

Being the youngest child in the family is fun for the most part.

Growing up with two older sisters means I have two built-in best friends and it also means I get to learn a lot from my sisters’ experiences. Kelsey, the oldest, and Makayla, the middle sister, both give me advice on mostly everything. _ey are my personal mentors, always guiding me and supporting me along the way. I will always have a constant source of inspiration. _ey are my role models, teaching me how to be independent and con_dent.

However, being the youngest also means I have to deal with getting picked on and teamed up on. _ey used to always call me my mom’s “little princess” because my parents would usually get me anything I asked for.

Every time my sisters would go out with their friends, I would literally beg to go with them, just because I thought I was just as cool as them. Sometimes, my mom would make them take me, but other times I was stuck at home. Anytime my siblings would get something from the store, I had to get something, too, or I was dissatis_ed because I didn't think it was fair.

Sometimes, when I was younger, I would always think about how I couldn't wait for my sisters to move out, because then I could invite all of my friends over and we wouldn't be bothered by them. But, now that they have moved out, I miss living with them. I miss not being able to walk to the next room over to _nd them there. And, what I miss the most is hanging out in their rooms, because theirs were so much cooler than mine.

My oldest sister, Kelsey, now has a family of her own and lives just right up the road. She has two daughters and one son. _eir names are Stevi, Slayde, and Sophie; I love them so much and I am so thankful to be their aunt. My oldest sister is a cosmetologist, and she works at Janeen’s Country Cottage in Sulphur Springs. So, anytime I need anything done to my hair, she always does it for me.

My other sister, Makayla, has a baby of her own on the way, a baby boy. She is always helping Kelsey take care of her children, too.

When me and my sisters go on road trips together, I always have a blast. We listen to music and jam out to throw-back songs, which is my favorite part.

Kelsey has inspired me to become a cosmetologist, just like her, because she has made it seem like so much fun and I have always liked playing with hair anyways.

I hope that when I get older, we are still as close as we are now, because I don't know what I would do without them. Being the youngest with two older sisters is a roller coaster, but it's one I wouldn’t trade for the world because I know I'll always have two people that are there for me, no matter what.
