Graveside services for Dan Wayne Humphrey, age 88, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at Restlawn Memorial Park with Bro. Bob Neal officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Honorary pallbearers will be Milburn “Catfish” Hettich, Alec Bridges, Bruce Roberts and all of his golfing buddies.

Dan passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Nov. 27, 1934, in Hopkins County, the son of Wallace Marcellos Humphrey and Neely McKinney Humphrey. He married Madeline Metallo Humphrey on April 7, 2007, in Sulphur Springs.

Dan attended Texas A&M. He owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. He also served as a board member of Alliance Bank. Dan was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Madeline, he is survived by step-daughters, Lara Humphrey of Dallas and Juli Price and husband Clay of Cumby; sister, Janice Wiley of Denton; grandchildren, Lindsey Ham and husband Jarrod of Dallas, Heath Powers and wife Dolly of Dike, Crystal Hall and husband Lucas of Maud, Chani Graves and husband Rich of Sulphur Springs, Cody Humphrey and wife Kaitlyn of Redwater, Mary Hightower and husband Nathan of Sulphur Springs, Cade Price and wife Emily of Cumby, Coen Price and wife Lauren of Sulphur Springs, Camri Langhoff and husband Cain of Cumby; 18 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents; first wife, Jan Butler Humphrey; son, Dan Humphrey, Jr.; daughter, Karen Jean Cook; and brother, Aubrey Humphrey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the League Street Church of Christ Food Pantry or to a charity of your choice.
