Hopkins County commissioners court approves proposals from rgb for a new barn for Precinct 2.

The county requested proposals, with a stiuplation that those planning to submit bids attend a mandatory meeting beforehand to go over the specifics for the project. Of the eight vendors attending, five submitted proposals. The highest bid came in at almost $550,000 and the lowest just over about $123,000 less construct the a clear span metal building for precinct 2.

RBC indicated the company could afford to bid that much lower than other vendors because the vendor uses very few subcontractors. RBC does most of the work themselves, county commissioners were told at the spet. 25 court meeting. The commissioners agreed on the proposal from RBC based on cost, availability of marerials and workers, and prior work performance for the county, officials noted.

Insurance money will fund replacement of the barn destroyed by severe weather earlier in the year.
