Valles qualifies for state UIL on cello

Sulphur Springs High School senior Daphne Valles has qualified state at the UIL Solo and Esemble Competition performing cello.

Chad Houk was the accompanying pianist for Valles' UIL performance of “Élégie Op. 24' by Fauré.

Daphne has been studying privately under Suzanna Herrera at the Heartstrings Music Studio in Sulphur Springs for over 7 years.

She is a member of the Sulphur Springs Youth Orchestra and grew up starting her musical journey in the Sulphur Springs ISD Strings program in sixth grade.

The community will have an opportunity to see Valles perform Fauré's “Élégie Op. 24' during the next Suphur Springs Youth Orchestra concert, scheduled April 21 in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Suphur Springs.
