Eleven of 19 streets targeted paid for by street improvement fee

Body

Today’s the day, according to the city: the summer paving program begins Wednesday morning, with the biggest expansion of the program since the mid-2000s.

This year, the summer paving program will target 19 streets, completing approximately 5.4 miles. The $5 citywide street improvement fee will pay for 11 of these streets, or approximately 3.5 of these miles, the city said.

The contractor started with surface preparation and milling work for Lou, Jonas, Lakeshore, and Debord Street today,” said community development director Tory Niewiadomski. “If weather permits, the contractor will begin paving prepped streets next week.”
