Seven Sulphur Springs High School film students submitted short films and animations to the 2024 UIL Young Filmmakers Contest. All of the films made it to the semifinals, and freshman Haley Hopkins advanced to the finals.
Hopkins’ digitally animated film, “The Perfect Dream,” about about a student who is under pressure from parents and dealing with test anxiety, placed third in the statewide competition.
“[Hopkins] is already planning for next year,” said teacher Dr. Phillip Dick.
For anyone wishing to view Hopkins’ film, it and the other contest submissions will be posted to view on the UIL Film website at https://www.uiltexas.org/ film.
This is the 10th year for the film competition. Submissions may be 30 seconds to three minutes long, including credits. There are four categories of films — narrative, documentary, traditional animation using stop motion or Claymation and digital animation
