Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement and fire department activity from 5:30 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Wednesday included:

POLICE

Monday

11 a.m.: A 17-year-old girl was arrested at the Sulphur Springs High School by SSISD police on a charge of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana in a drug-free zone. The girl was reportedly seen smoking marijuana in a restroom and was allegedly found to be in possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana. Bond was set at $2,000, and she was released Tuesday, according to arrest and jail reports.

9:07 a.m.: Deputies received a report of criminal mischief or vandalism at a residence on FM 2560. A man reported his vehicle had been vandalized, and there were red marks all over the vehicle.

9:44 a.m.: Deputies were contacted by a caller requesting a criminal trespass warning be issued to a woman.

10:50 a.m.: Jeramie Jermaine Smith, 39, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction on a parole violation. Smith’s parole officer reportedly advised deputies of the warrant. Deputies reportedly obtained information that Smith was at the sale barn. Smith was located and taken into custody after allegedly attempting to use an alias. No bond was set, and Smith remained in custody as of press time Wednesday, according to arrest and jail reports.

1:02 p.m.: A Cumby man reported someone cut the locks on his storage building. Cumby PD responded.

1:52 p.m.: Cumby PD responded to a report of a disturbance or family violence at a home on Depot Street. A woman reported her husband was acting out again.

1:19 p.m.: Deputies received a report of suspicious activity at a residence on FM 69 north in Dike. A man reported a white car was driving up and down the road taking pictures of his residence.

2:10 p.m.: Morris Lee Toney, 57, of Judson, Arkansas, was arrested at the Upshur County Jail to the Hopkins County jail on probation violations from 2016 on 2013 felony charges of possession of 4-200 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, possession of less than 1gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair an investigation. Toney remained in custody as of press time Wednesday, according to arrest and jail reports.

4:05 p.m.: Carl Featherston, 36, of Louisville, Arkansas, was arrested at the Bowie County Jail and transported to the Hopkins County jail on a warrant for a parole violation on a 2018 charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Bond was denied, and Featherston remained in custody as of press time Wednesday, according to arrest and jail reports.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 308 non-emergency phone calls, 91 calls for service and 48 emergency calls. For the period from 5:30 a.m. Monday to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers filed one offense, issued three citations and conducted five inmate transfers between facilities, one special patrol and 22 traffic stops. Thirteen people were booked into and eight released from county jail, which held 155 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
