As the weather dipped this week, making it a bit cooler, the Hopkins County Dairy Festival Board was busy planning for some of the warmest events of the year — the annual salute to the dairy industry.

The 2024 Hopkins County Dairy Festival is scheduled from June 7-15, with the pageant being on-June 15.

Following that meeting, pageant coordinators Cindy Lancaster and Brooke Howard reported they still have two slots open if any local young lady would like to register to take part in this year's pageant.

In order to be eligible to compete, the girl must be a junior at a Hopkins County high school, or accredited homeschool program, and maintain a passing grade point average.

Queen coronation pageant contestants will be judged in three categories: Interview with judges, talent, and beauty/poise — how they present themselves during the Interview portion, and on stage.

Contestant activities include making and entering a small float in the Dairy Festival Parade on June 8, participating along with their parents in a cow milking contest, helping crew the hot air balloon rally, selling pageant tickets, the Queens Dinner and nightly rehearsals the week leading up to the pageant.

The theme for the 2024 Hopkins County Dairy Festival will be 'A Night at the MOO-seum.'

Girls interested in entering the pageant should contact co-pageant director Cindy Lancaster at 903439-5336. A parent and contestant reception will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 18 at the Dairy Museum; those planning to particpiate should plan to attend.
