Manslaughter charges filed

Jaime Castillo-Zavala, 38, of Saltillo was arrested Friday 10:56 p.m. on a Hopkins County warrant for a charge of manslaughter.

Castillo-Zavala was reportedly known to have the warrant and deputies made contact with him at his last known place of residence.

A check through communications was ran and the warrant was confirmed. Deputies placed Castillo-Zavala into custody and transported him to the jail without further contact. Bond was set at $100,000.

Dylan Anderson, 19, of Sulphur Springs was arrested Friday 8:59 p.m. on warrants for manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Anderson was reportedly known to have the above warrants.

Deputies arrived at Anderson’s last known place of residence and made contact with Anderson’s mother who advised that Anderson was at a friend’s house.

Deputies followed up on the tip and made contact with Anderson at a residence on Woodbridge Drive.

Anderson was placed into custody and transported to the jail without incident.

In a press release from the Sulphur Springs Police Department back in December Anderson was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that was involved in a head on collision with a Toyota Camry Dec. 17, 2021 on FM 2285.

The driver of the Camry, 73 year old Shirley Wakeman reportedly died on scene and the passenger, a 9 year old juvenile, was flown to a hospital in Dallas for treatment of critical injuries.

Anderson was flown to Tyler where he was listed as in stable condition. Bond was set at $150,000, $100,000 for the manslaughter charge and $50,000 for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
