The Main Street Theatre will present some homegrown talent this weekend with the two-part 2023 Summer Jazz Series.

The first show will take place this Saturday, July 29, starting at 7 p.m., will feature the Smith Brothers Trio with Jeff Smith on clarinet, J.B. Smith on trumpet and Ben Scarborough on bass. Jeff and J.B. grew up here in Sulphur Springs, Scarborough was the band director at Sulphur Springs High School for many years.

This group entertained a near sellout crowd in February of 2022. Don't miss your chance to see them again. They are sure to bring a smile to your face and keep your toes tapping!

Part two of the Summer Jazz Series will be the show on Saturday, Aug. 5. Ben Scarborough will accompany Scott Whitfield, a 2021 inductee into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame.

Whitfield is a seasoned performer that knows how to work with a crowd. His wit, timing, originality, and easygo-ing west Texas personality are trademarks of his shows. Whitfield has headlined or been a featured performer at numerous banjo festivals across the U.S.
