After being canceled last year due to COVID-19 concerns, Heritage Park’s Christmas in the Park is back this year with its magical lights and historical sights open to visitors Saturday and next Saturday.

“The blacksmith shop is alive with the glow of metal and the sparks of burning coal as the blacksmith demonstrates his trade,” the event’s description reads. “The general store is filled with turn of the century items and is warmed by a wood stove to warm chilly visitors.”

For a $3 ticket, visitors can enjoy the lights, carolers, musicians, live nativity scene and Santa Claus. The park will offer free hot cocoa, coffee, punch, cookies and other food in its buildings. The tickets also are eligible for door prizes.

Most of the historical buildings will be open, and volunteers will be dressed in period costumes to give the impression of stepping back in time.

“The chapel is alive with the sounds [of] live Christmas music,” continues the description. “The Atkins House has a beautifully decorated Christmas tree with hostesses serving punch and cookies. There, visitors can hear a dulcimer and violins playing Christmas music.”

In the Smith Greg house, Santa Claus will be found, and hot cocoa will be available there. Christmas decorations will be sold at the general store.

The park opens at 5:30 p.m. each night.

“Come join in the fun as you step back in time to enjoy the start of the Christmas season,” the description reads.
