The Hopkins County Salvation Army’s Breakfast with Santa event was held on Saturday, Dec. 23, at First Baptist Church Recreational Outreach Center in Sulphur Springs.

A team of volunteers cooked and served bacon, sausage, eggs and pancake plates for all who came through the serving line.

Other volunteers manned a cookie decorating center and a face painting table for the kids, while Santa listened to Christmas wishes from the children, who also had their photo made with Santa Claus.

Beverly Haygood is among volunteers who assist locally, and elsewhere when needed. In 2017, Haygood attended a tenday training in advance of landfall of the major disaster, Hurricane Harvey, which caused catastrophic flooding and loss of life in areas along the Texas-Louisiana coast.
