Earvin Larry Jr has announced his candidacy for Sulphur Springs ISD Board of Trustees.

“My goal for serving on the SSISD School Board is to aid in giving our students and staff the best chances of excelling academically and providing the best learning experience for all students. Our school district had numerous achievements over the last few years. I am proud of all our students’ and staff’s accomplishments with the resources at hand, and we can build on that momentum. In addition, we can continue to improve our schools and build a bond with the community, so everyone is included in the success and achievements of our district,” Larry said.

The 2002 Sulphur Springs High School graduate spent 17 years serving in the US Air Force, as an Aircraft Electrician and Flying Crew Chief.

“I had the privilege of locating t o three great duty stations during my military career, Dyess AFB TX, Ramstein AB Germany, and Tinker AFB OK, and three deployments along with over 20 TDY’s and missions that include humanitarian relief and hurricane evacuations in various countries during my military career,” Larry said.

“Growing up in a mili- tary family and then going on to serve in the military has given me the pleasure of living in numerous cities in the world. However, the one place I have always connected with and felt at home has been Sulphur Springs, Texas,” Larry noted.

He said once had a family, he knew that Sulphur Springs was the community he wanted his family to be a part of. The family has lived in SSISD for the past 10 years. “This District and its amazing Teachers and staff helped prepare me for the world once I graduated. I have lived in different states, countries and have met and worked with people from different backgrounds and all different walks of life and have an understanding and respect for different ideas and challenges we face in our community,” he said.

He said a “dream team,” consisting of school board members, the superintendent, staff and community members, is paramount in the success of our children and the continuing improvement of our amazing school district in Sulphur Springs.”

“The most significant area of concern is SSISD’s growing population and finding ways to give the students and staff the best options for success, which in turn spills over into our community as these kids graduate,” Larry said.
