Dining, retail establishments encourage carryout & pickup to shop local

In light of COVID-19, downtown businesses are launching a campaign they have dubbed "TakeoutTogether," according to city manager Marc Maxwell.

TakeoutTogether means downtown businesses will have designated parking spots nearest dining and retail businesses where customers can order ahead and have items brought to their cars for pickup, Maxwell said. Starting March 18, citizens will see the designated parking spaces pop up, according to Maxwell.

City government encourages businesses outside downtown to participate in TakeoutTogether, and those businesses that would like parking signs designating the special spots can contact city hall, Maxwell said.

This going to be a difficult time, we expect," Maxwell said. "Yet we know Sulphur Springs is a community like no other and we've come together many times before."

"I just want to remind everyone that the best way to get through this is to shop local and eat local," Chamber of Commerce president Lezley Brown agreed.
