Hopkins County prepared to host Christmas in the Park, while the newly completed downtown square was illuminated with “thousands of lights conducted to classic holiday songs, flashing as they line the streets.” While we’re now used to the display in 2020, in 2010 it was a sight to be seen.

Roger “Tex” Maynard, the last living person to reside in the Hopkins County Courthouse, shared the wild tales of his years roping and shooting as a lawman with the HCSO mounted division with the News-Telegram. Tex has since passed away.
