Brashear man arrested following domestic disturbance

Hopkins County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a Brashear residence at 1:49 p.m. Thursday, March 7 for an active disturbance in progress.

Upon arrival, deputies were directed to a woman and her child, but were told the suspect, Tyler William Barton Shleicher, was at a residence down the road. The woman was alleged to have been assaulted by her child’s father, who deputies were told was intoxicated.

Deputies contacted and attempted to talk to Shleicher about the allegations, but he refused to talk to deputies about it. He did reportedly tell them to take him away, however, deptuies noted in arrest reports.

Deputies noted that Shleicher appeared to be intoxicated from an alcoholic beverage. He had red, glassy and bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. He was placed into a patrol unit.

They then went to the other location for further investigation. The incident allegedly stemmed from an intoxicated Shleicher becoming upset with the child’s mother when he attempted to fall asleep in their bed with the threeweek-old baby on his chest.

The baby’s mother reportedly grabbed the infant from Shleicher and continued into the living room to sit on the couch. Shleicher followed her and continued the argument, and allegedly attempting to flip the couch while she sat on it holding their child.

When she got up, Shleicher is accused of pushing the child’s mother into a TV, causing her to hit her head on the TV, while she still held the baby. Schleicher allegedly kicked the bedroom door open when the woman tried to lock it. The man then is accused of grabbing the woman’s leg, which had recently been operated on, causing her pain.

Deputies noted the woman was wearing a brace on that leg. A living room couch was also reported to be turned sideways, and a large flat screen TV mounted to the wall had a shattered screen, and broken glass was visible on the floor by the couch, deputies noted in arrrest reports.

She then reportedly left the residence and began walking away. Shleicher allegedly followed, pulling her backward by the back of her shirt and caused a red mark on her shoulder. The woman was eventually able to get to a relative’s house nearby.

Determining that Shleicher was the primary aggressor for continuing the assault against the woman while she held their baby, placing the baby in imminent danger of bodily injury, deputies arrested the Brashear man on a family violence causing bodily injury to a family or household member charge and a reckless endangerment of a child charge.
