„ First United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs will host a 'Blessing of the Backpacks' on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. church services on Aug. 20. Students should bring their backpacks to be blessed for the new school year by Pastor McNabb. Teachers and parents are encouraged to attend.

„ The 62nd district jury trial scheduled for Aug. 21, 2023 has been cancelled. If you received a summons in the mail you DO NOT have to appear.

„ The Hopkins County Offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 8 a.m. Emergency services and the sheriff ’s 0ffice will remain open on these days.

„ Registration for the fun and games of the Sulphur Springs Senior Olympics is now open. The annual event is set for Sept. 15 at The Roc, with lunch to follow for all participants. If your skills lie in Skeeball, Horseshoes or Cornhole, in Darts and Javelin, or maybe in Golf or 1K Race, register now for fun and prizes. You can get a free T-shirt and may qualify for the Spirit award. Lunch will be provided for participants. Call Dawna at the Senior Citizens Center at 903-8851661.

„ Throughout each month, the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center offers interesting, free programs for local senior citizens to attend on a weekly or monthly basis. A few include Functional Fitness, Bunco, Watercolor Art Class, Fit and Strong, Happy Scrappy, Rummikub, Garden Club, Shawls of Love Crochet group, and Tips for Pet Owners.
