PITTSBURGH, Penn. — Sulphur Springs is the proud home of a professional athlete. On Aug. 31, Jeremy Simons stepped on stage at the North American Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to compete for bodybuilding glory.

The 42-year-old Simons had risen through the National Physique Committee ranks over the last few years. The NPC is the amateur association for bodybuilding and physique competitors in the United States. Only the very best of the NPC are ever afforded the opportunity to compete for a coveted IFBB (International Federation of Body Building) Professional Card. Winning the “pro card” means that the athlete has become the very best in the bodybuilding world.

Simons competed in a Master’s Physique classification. The bodybuilding world breaks down into classes so that those near the same height or age only compete with others who are of similar build. Simons not only competed but won first place in both Master’s 35 years old and up and Master’s 40 years old and up. This means that Simons is now a national champion and an official IFBB professional bodybuilder.

Not only did Simons win his professional card and the right to be able to compete for money, his wife, Angie Simons, is also an accomplished competitor. She will be competing in nationals in the near future. Angie Simons is a nutritionist and meal prepared all of Jeremy’s meals in the run up to his success. Congratulate Jeremey and wish Angie luck by visiting their store, Simons Fitness and Nutrition, at 101 Bill Bradford Road, Suite 101 in Sulphur Springs.
