The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) is pleased to announce the election of Chris Brown of Sulphur Springs as president of the association on Nov. 7 at NADO’s 2023 Annual Business Meeting. The meeting was held in conjunction with the NADO’s Annual Training Conference in Cleveland, Ohio Nov.7-10.

Brown served as executive director of Ark-Tex Council of Governments and has been announced to head the Sulphur Springs – Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation as executive director.

He is working with Roger Feagley, who has served in the position for about 25 years and will officially retire at the end of the year. Prior to that Brown served on Sulphur Springs City Council and as Hopkins County Judge. His past business work experience has included serving as a paramedic with Hopkins County EMS and a realtor with Re/MAX.

Brown will continue to serve the region as a member of the ATCOG Board.

As NADO president, Brown will lead the 63-member NADO Board of Directors, which oversees the association’s bud-get and operations and develops policy on issues affecting regional development organizations.

NADO was founded in 1967 to provide training, information, and representation for regional development organizations throughout the United States. Today, NADO’s 300plus member organizations serve local governments and the public within their regions through various programs focused on diversifying local economies, assisting businesses, creating jobs, and providing vital community services.

“We are honored to have Chris Brown serve as President of our national association,” NADO Executive Director Joe McKinney stated. “Chris brings an abundance of regional community and economic development knowledge to this role and our Board.

He is dedicated to helping our nation’s local communities pursue comprehensive regional strategies for remaining economically competitive in today’s rapidly changing global environment.”

“I am excited to serve the National Association of Development Organizations as President for the next year,” indicated Brown. “NADO serves as a positive and vital resource for regional development organizations around the country. ATCOG’s roll in regional coordination, transportation issues, small business lending, and vital infrastructure funding has been greatly enhanced by the efforts of NADO, and I am fortunate to be part of the important work they are doing.”
