Mount Vernon nurse arrested for third DWI

A 40-year old Mount Vernon woman who listed her occupation as registered nurse was arrested for driving while intoxicated, third offense or more with open container, as well as driving while license invalid with alcohol suspension, according to police.

Amanda Katherine Miller, 40, was allegedly driving on the shoulder of Interstate 30 eastbound near mile marker 138 when police reported she “nearly sideswip[ed] a truck tractor semi-trailer.” Police said in their report that Miller alleged her license had been suspended due to a previous DWI. Miller also allegedly stated she had consumed alcohol earlier in the day, the report read.

Police said they “located two open Dallas Blonde alcoholic beverages in the center console. One container was empty and the other still contained approximately one-fifth of the drink, and it was evident it had been recently spilled in the center console.”

According to police, Miller’s driver’s license showed many active suspensions, “several of which were alcohol-related.” Additionally, police said Miller had four previous DWI arrests, two of which resulted in convictions.

Miller was arrested for DWI, third offense, as well as other charges. She was booked into HCSO without incident, police said, and later released.
