Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement activity from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday included:

Friday, Sept. 29

„ Deputies stopped Kayla Diane Landers at 9:01 p.m. on County Road 1104 for a traffic violation. She and the passenger allegedly gave conflicting stories that didn't correlate, so deputies asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. She denied there was and agreed to a search, Deputy Isaac Foley and Cpl. Kevin Lester noted in arrest reports. A bag with a substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed about 0.7 of a gram, including packaging. The 40-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The passenger, 38-year-old Kyle Daniel Goggans of Sulphur Springs, was arrested on warrants for driving while license invalid and speeding.

„ Deputies took Brandon Ashley Bain into custody at 11:15 a.m. on Jefferson Street on a warrant for violation of probation on a second offense driving while intoxicated charge.

Saturday, Sept. 30

„ Selvin Mauricio Garcia Rodriguez was stopped for a traffic violation on Woodlawn Street and was unable to provide a driver’s license. After admitting he didn’t have one, the 36-year-old Sulphur Springs man was arrested at 2:32 p.m.for driving while license invalid. At the jail, a baggy containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine was found in his possession; he admitted it was cocaine. It weighed 0.55 of a gram including packaging and tested positive for cocaine, resulting in another charge for possession of the controlled substance.

„ Kimberly Sue Earhart was accused of passing all points of sale at Walmart without scanning over $200 worth of merchandise. A store employee detained the 43-year-old Yantis woman, who was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Saturday by police ona Class B misdemeanor theft charge, according to arrest reports.

„ Police were dispatched at 2:03 a.m. to a 911 call on Industrial Drive. Dispatchers reported yelling and commotion could be heard before the phone call disconnected. Upon arrival, police determined Saquan Tyreeck Harrison Reyolds interfered with another’s ability to place an emergency call to request assistance by taking the phone away and ending the call. The 23-year-old Sulphur Springs man was arrested on Class A misdemeanor interference with an emergency request for assistance.

„ At 4:13 p.m., a Winnsboro police officer began checking residences nearby in regard to livestock that had gotten out. As he approached a State Highway 11 east residence, the officer reported seeing drug paraphernalia on a table on the porch. The WPD officer contacted Hopkins County Sheriff ’s deputies because of where the home is located. A strong marijuana odor emitted from the area, Sgt. Zack Horne alleged in arrest reports. Deputies arrived and reported a vehicle on the property had identifiers for a Titus County Sheriff ’s Office vehicle. HCSO Investigator Shea Shaw was called in. A search warrant was obtained and executed. Additional contraband was found on the table on the porch, and baggies of suspected marijuana were found in a tumbler near the porch. Hannah McLayne Mock was taken into custody at 7:42 p.m. for possession of marijuana. The substance weighed about 10.3 grams, including packaging. The 32-year-old Winnsboro woman, who arrest reports listed her occupation as that of a registered nurse at a regional hospital, was booked into jail on the Class B misdemeanor marijuana charge. No additional information was available regardingthe Titus County law enforcement identifiers observed.

„ A deputy transported Juan Resendiz- Perez from a McKinney hospital to Hopkins County jail, where the 37-yearold Plano man was booked in at 1:45 p.m. on a warrant for violation of probation on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 1.5 or less charge.

„ Deputies contacted Tony Ray Curtis, seen walking at 4:56 p.m. on FM 69. He claimed to have run out of gas and was walking home to retrieve more. He offered the man a courtesy ride home, but patted him down as a precaution first. The deputy found a pocket knife and felt a cylindrical object in Curtis’ pants pocket. When asked about it, the 45-year-old Sulphur Springs man handed over a syringe with faded markings on it. He claimed the needle was used for insulin, but appeared nervous, swayed back and forth and avoided making eye contact with the officer. When asked if he’d used narcotics in the past, Curtis allegedly admitted he’d used methamphetamine in the past. When asked what would be in the needle, the man claimed it was probably used for meth, so the deputy took Curtis into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to arrest reports.

Sunday, Oct. 1

„ Officers contacted Ronnie Charles Childress at 11:56 a.m. on Helm Lane where a disturbance was reported. The 53-year-old Sulphur Springs man was arrested on a driving while license invalid warrant.

„ Gregory Lee Oldfield Jr. is accused of assaulting a corrections officer while in custody at the county jail around 6:45 p.m. Sunday. HCSO Cpl. Justin Wilkerson observed a corrections officer had redness on both sides of his face, along with some dried blood. Jail employees reported the 25-yearold Garland man became uncooperative while the jail staff tried to move them from their cell to the recreation room. When The corrections officer attempted to place the man into restraints, Oldfield allegedly began striking the corrections officer, causing injury to his face. Jail staff then reportedly gained control of Oldfield and escorted him to a V-cell. When contacted, Oldfield reportedly declined to talk to Wilkerson. The deputy advised Oldfield assault of a public servant was being added to the list of offenses he is accused of committing.

„ Deputies went to a Westgate address to investigate a report of methamphetamine use. Deputies contacted Tina Springer outside the mobile home, then John William Davis, who invited them inside. They spied a pipe of the kind commonly used to smoke methamphetamine and meth residue on the living room table. Davis was observed to be in possession of a bag of suspected methamphetamine. Davis allegedly shoved it into the couch, then, detained by both Stringer and Davis. Stringer allegedly admitted to having a bag of marijuana in her purse; deputies retrieved that contraband too. Davis reportedly admitted to having additional meth in a bedroom. The deputies located and seized as evidence additional suspected meth and drug paraphernalia. The suspected meth field-tested positive for meth and weighed 3.036 grams, packaging and all. Davis was charged at 11:50 p.m. with possession of less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, and Stringer was charged with possession of drug paraph, according to arrest reports.

Monday, Oct. 2

„ Police stopped Xavier John Hill for speeding in a Dodge Ram pickup at 1:30 p.m. on North Hillcrest Drive. The man showed nervous indicators. A records check showed four warrants. He was taken into custody. A vehicle search revealed what was believed to be a Fentanyl pill on the ground directly beside him. A plastic bag with more pills was found when his clothing was shaken. The 23-year-old Sulphur Springs man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and on warrants for possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to display driver’s license warrants and two more for speeding.

„ Justin Charles Yonker turned himself in at 9:35 a.m. at the county jail on a warrant for theft of proeprty. The 27-year-old Cumby man was booked in on theharge.

„ Deputies served 23-year-old Jerrett Lamar Devont Grant with three warrants for theft of property.
