Tuesday, April 2

„ Officers saw Jesus Castro cleaning his vehicle at the car wash on Gilmer Street at 9:30 a.m. April 2. Aware the 28-year-old had a warrant for his arrest, police contacted him. When asked, the Sulphur Springs man admitted to having a syringe loaded with methamphetamine in the vehicle; officers found it in the console. Castro admitted during questioning that the syringe had a mixture of meth and water, police alleged in arrest reports. Castro was arrested on a third-degree felony possession of 1 gram or more but less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance warrant as well as a new possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1/1-B controlled substance in a drug-free zone charge, according to arrest reports.

„ Kenneth Dean Robbins of Como was taken into custody in the Municipal Court per a judge at 3:06 p.m. The 38-year-old was arrested on two driving while license invalid, one failure to control speed, one no motorcycle endorsement and one use of cell phone in a school zone warrants.

„ Theft of an iPhone was reported April 2. Someone left it sitting at the customer service desk. When they returned for it, store employees said they hadn’t seen nor did they have it.

„ Police found David Paul Campbell in a storage building on a West Oaks Circle property, where the 19-year-old was reported to be trespassing. A trespass warning was issued to him. A records check showed the man to be wanted for no driver’s license and not paying fines on no driver’s license and speeding charges, according to arrest reports.

„ Deputies responded to a vehicle crash on South Broadway Street from 5:54 p.m. to 8:41 p.m.

„ Pickton-Pine Forest firefighters and sheriff ’s deputies responded on State Highway 11 east at County Road 2391 in Pickton from 5:55 a.m. to 6:29 a.m.

„ A vehicle theft was reported on Interstate 30 in Sulphur Springs at 8:59 a.m. The call was transferred to another agency.

Deputies conducted a welfare check on County Road 4748 at 7:29 a.m.

Wednesday, April 3

„ Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Deputy Glynda Chester transported Lily Marie Crow from Van Zandt County Detention Center to Hopkins County jail, where the 23-year-old Star City, Arkansas woman was booked in at 2:50 p.m. on a warrant for violation of probation, which she was on for a possession of a controlled substance charge, according to arrest reports.

„ HCSO Deputy Isaac Foley stopped Cynthia Maline Smith at 9:53 p.m. on the north Interstate 30 service road for failing to fully stop at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Loop 301. While talking with the 43-year-old Sulphur Springs woman Foley noted Smith making furtive movements toward the floorboard of the car. She also failed to make eye contact with the deputy and was noted to be profusely sweating. A search of the white Kia revealed a pipe of the kind used to smoke marijuana and a socket with suspected burnt marijuana in it, Foley alleged in arrest reports. She admitted to using the pipe and socket to smoke marijuana. Deputies too claimed to locate a white substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine in Smith’s purse. Smith was jailed on possession of drug paraphernalia, according to arrest reports.

„ Hopkins County firefighters and deputies responded from 12:25 to 12:57 p.m. on Interstate 30 east at mile marker 128 to a vehicle crash, were dispatched at 9:16 p.m. to a vehicle crash on County Road 3502 but were disregarded.

„ Hopkins County firefighters too responded to a vehicle crash reported to authorities at 1:42 a.m. but were disregarded a minute later.

„ Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office dispatchers answered 212 non-emergency phone calls and 22 emergency 911 calls on April 3. Deputies answered 36 calls for service, provided one inmate tranpsort and conducted 12 traffic stops. Four people were booked into and five were released from the county jail, which held 217 inmates at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Thursday, April 4

„ Everett Van Jennings was transported from Galveston County jail to Hopkins County jail, where the 35-year-old Sulphur Springs man was booked in at 9:53 p.m. on tampering with a witness, use or possession of identifying information, theft of property, placing serial number with ientent to change identity and resisting officer warrants, according to arrest reports.

„ County communications operators answered 184 non-emergency phone calls and 21 calls for service. Deputies responded to 52 calls for service, conducted three inmate transports, provided one funeral escort and made 15 traffic stops. Fou people were booked into and eight were released from the county jail, which held 213 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

„ Cumby firefighters responded from 9:22 to 9:44 p.m. to a vehicle crash on State Highway 11 west.

„ Deputies responded to a distutrbance on Interstate 30 east between mile markers 132-133. An arrest was made, according to offense and sheriff 's reports.

Friday, April 5

„ Communications operators answered 226 non-emergency phone calls and 42 emergency calls. Deputies responded to 68 calls for service conducted two inmate transports between facilities and made 12 traffic stops. Three people were booked into and nine released from the county jail, which held 212 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Friday.
