Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement activity from Thursday to Monday included:

Thursday, March 28

„ A Cumby Police officer stopped a red Dodge 350 on westbound Interstate 30 at 10 a.m. for reckless driving. The officer observed the vehicle speeding and failing to maintain a single lane of traffic near mile marker 110. The vehicle stopped near mile marker 107. During contact, the driver, Andrew Wilhite Cameron appeared to be extremely nervous while speaking with the police, the officer noted in arrest reports. The 33-yearold Mount Pleasant man reused to allow police to search the vehicle. A canine officer was requested. The police dog gave a positive alert. A probable cause search revealed less than 2 ounces of marijuana, approximately 7 grams of suspected methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was impounded and Cameron was charged with one count each of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana and possession of 4 to 200 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance.

„ Sulphur Springs Police responded to a suspicious activity complaint involving Anthony Carol Green at Walmart. Upon arrival at the business, they spotted Green at a pickup and contacted him. Officers allege the 40-year-old Sulphur Springs man appeared highly intoxicated. Green was arrested at 11:10 a.m. on a public intoxication charge.

„ An Echo chainsaw was reported stolen from Main Street March 28.

„ Jessica Lynn Winchester was arrested at 10:50 p.m. on East Shannon Road on warrants for failure to yield and failure to maintain financial responsibility. She was stopped for a traffic violation. A record check showed the warrants. She was arrested; the vehicle was released to the passenger.

Friday, March 29

„ Joel E. Pacheco- Brizuela, 30, of Patterson, New Jersey, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. during a traffic stop on eastbound I-30. Pacheco-Brizuela was stopped for traveling in the left lane without passing. Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Deputy Davis requested and received consent to search the vehicle, where he located a coffee cup in the driver’s side door that contained two plastic baggies wrapped in tinfoil. Upon further investigation, Dep. Davis observed inside the baggies a white powder believed to be cocaine. Pacheco- Brizuela admitted during his Miranda warning that the substance was cocaine. He was taken into custody and charged with possession of 4 or more but less than 200 grams of a Penalty Group 1/1B controlled substance. The white powder weighed in at 57.78 grams, including packaging, and field tested positive.

„ Siara Denise Reed, 30, of Commerce was arrested during a traffic stop on State Highway 11 west at Hillcrest Drive at 9:13 p.m. Deputy Isaac Foley observed the vehicle fail to dim headlamps and have a defective high beam, as well as traveling at a speed six miles over the posted speed limit. In speaking with Reed, Foley felt she was being deceptive about her criminal history, alleging in arrest reports that she lied about having an active warrant for no driver’s license. Reed consented to a search of the vehicle, during which Dep. Foley located a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and an open alcoholic beverage container. Reed was arrested on the warrant and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

„ Faith Fears, 19, of Renton, Texas was arrested during a traffic stop on Martin Luther King Avenue at 9:47 p.m. During the stop, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Dobbs noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the passenger cabin. A probable cause search revealed a “‘blue jean’ fabric purse belonging to Fears, which contained a clear, plastic baggie with a green, leafy substance inside, an open bottle of Hennessy and a THC vape pen with a waxy, viscous fluid inside. Fears was arrested for possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

„ Texas DPS Trooper Dobbs stopped a black Ford truck on northbound State Highway 154 at 11:10 p.m. after observing the vehicle driving on the shoulder, crossing the center line and having an inoperable brake light. During contact with the driver, Andres Calderon Hernandez, 23, of Sulphur Springs, Trooper Dobbs noted an odor of alcohol coming from the passenger compartment, along with several open containers in the back seat. Calderon admitted to having one shot and one beer approximately 30 minutes prior to the stop. He reportedly showed several factors of impairment during standard field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. At the jail, Calderon’s breath test showed a 0.11 result.

Saturday, March 30

„ Officers responded to what was reported as an active disturbance at a Helm Lane residence at 11:19 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities were told Timothy Jerald Bloodsoe had assaulted the mother of his child outside of her residence, while there for visitation with their child. The mother reportedly retreated back into her apartment and locked the door, which the child’s 35-year-old father then kicked in to gain access to the apartment. The Greenville man then allegedly assaulted his child’s mother again, before fleeing. Police reported finding and detaining the father on the complex grounds. A records check showed him to have an outstanding warrant for no driver’s license. He was arrested for that and a new burglary of a habitation charge, for his alleged forced entry into the Helm Lane residence, according to police reports.

Sunday, March 31

„ Benjamin Scott Proffer, 29, of Yantis was arrested at a South Broadway Street convenience store at 12:24 a.m. He was the driver of a vehicle stopped by a HCSO deputy for a moving violation and reportedly admitted to drinking prior to the stop. Texas DPS Trooper Rodriguez reportedly observed Proffer to have red, glassy and bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Trooper Rodriguez reportedly observed signs of intoxication during standard field sobriety tests and took Proffer into custody. Proffer provided a voluntary blood sample at the hospital and was booked into the Hopkins County jail for driving while intoxicated first offense.

„ Kain Jordan Morales Sterling turned himself in at Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office. The 40-year old Cooper man as escorted by Cpl. Justin Wilkerson into the county jail, where he was booked in on the warrant for violation of probation.

„ Hopkins County deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 2301 south of CR 2300 at 2:06 a.m. in search of a vehicle in the ditch and a possibly intoxicated driver. On arrival, deputies made contact with the driver, Dustin Josue Santizo Samoyoa, 23, of Yantis, who was sitting in the driver’s seat. Deputies observed a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine in plain view. Samoyoa was taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded. At the jail, the powdery substance field tested positive for cocaine and weighed approximately 1.279 grams including packaging. Samoyoa was charged with possession of 1 or more but less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, a third degree felony.

Monday, April 1 „ At 1:02 p.m., Cpl. Zack Steward was on patrol working traffic enforcement on eastbound I-30 near mile marker 127 when he observed a vehicle with an obstructed license plate pass his location. He conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 131. He detected the strong odor of marijuana during the stop, and when questioned, the driver, Kendra Nicole Holliman, 36, of Texarkana, who admitted to having a small amount. She reportedly removed a pink bag from the vehicle, and admitted it contained a small pistol. Cpl. Steward retrieved the weapon for a records check, and the serial number showed a stolen hit out of Garland County, Arkansas. A records check for felony convictions came back positive and Holliman was taken into custody for theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

„ Police contacted David Paul Campbell on West Oak Circle in reference to a trespassing complaint. He was at a location, where he was unwanted, the complainant said. Officers found him in a storage shed on the back part of the property. A records check showed warrants for his arrest. He was issued a criminal trespass warning, then arrested at 1 p.m. on the no driver’s license warrant as well as warrants for not paying the fine on speeding and no driver’s license warrants.

„ Victor Ramirez-Hernandez was arrested at 3:10 p.m. in the area of State Highway 67 and the east Interstate 30 service road, where a male wearing a Texas Rangers jersey walked up to residence and defecated on the outside of the man’s house. Upon arrival, deputies located the man walking in front of cars on the service road. The deputy alleged the man was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The man he was taken into custody on a public intoxication charge.
