Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement activty this week included:

Monday, March 25

„ Cary Robert Walker, 50, of Irving was arrested following a crash on westbound Interstate 30 near mile marker 121 at 10:34 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the location in reference to a crash. Walker was found to have two active warrants from North Richland Hills Police Department for theft of more than $2,500 but less than $30,000 and tampering with a governmental document. Bond on the theft warrant was set at $10,000 and $15,000 on the tampering warrant. Walker had high blood sugar at the time of arrest and was taken to the CHRISTUS Mother Frances-Sulphur Springs emergency room to be checked out before being booked into the Hopkins County jail.

„ Amber Diane Landers, 41, of Dike turned herself in at the Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office at 2:49 p.m. on a probation violation warrant on a charge of felony possession of 1 or more but less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1/1B controlled substance. Bond was set at $150,000.

„ Timothy Calyn Chalfant, 26, of Cumby was arrested at a Mill Street residence or bond forfeiture on a Henderson County theft of property valued at more than $100 but less than $750. Chalfant’s brother, the property owner, waved officers down, stating his brother had damaged multiple items throughout the house, including a microwave, toaster, toilet, bathroom door and a game system, along with multiple additional items. The homeowner stated Chalfant was staying at the residence, but none of the damaged items belonged to Chalfant. The value of the damaged items was more than $750, but less than $2,500. Chalfant also allegedly threatened the homeowner during the argument over the damage. As a result, Chalfant was also charged with assault by threat of family violence and criminal mischief resulting in $750 worth or more but less than $2,500worth of damage.

Tuesday, March 26

„ Jamie May Gail Dowell, 37, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at her residence at 8 a.m. on a Hopkins County probation violation warrant for possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, as well as a Van Zandt County warrant for theft of property valued less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions. Bond on the possession charge was set at $150,000.

„ Robert Christopher Wolf II, 34, of Brashear was arrested during a traffic stop at the Dollar General store in Como at 9:13 p.m. Wolf was the passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation and was found to have an active Hopkins County warrant for theft of property valued at $100 or more but less than $750. He was booked into the Hopkins County jail on the warrant, and bond was set at $1,500.

„ Dusty Lynn Woodson, 39, of Pickton was arrested on First Street at State Highway 11 east in Como at 9:55 p.m. Wolf was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped. During contact, he appeared to be sweating profusely, making furtive movements and failing to maintain eye contact. Deputies were denied consent to search the vehicle, and a K-9 officer was requested. The K-9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. A probable cause search led to the Hopkins County deputies’ discovery of a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana. Wolf ’s pockets were also searched, where deputies felt what they believed to be an additional pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, which contained residue. Wolf was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County jail.

Wednesday,March27

„ Kody Cameron Chester, 30, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at his residence at 12:43 a.m. after deputies responded to the residence regarding a runaway juvenile. Deputies spoke with the mother and the juvenile. They determined that Chester was the stepfather and was at the residence in violation of an active protective order. Chester’s wife advised he was living at the residence with her and four juveniles. Deputies followed the wife to a location on County Road 1116 east to meet with Chester. He was taken into custody without incident.

„ Felicia Ann Dickson, 52, was transported from the Dallas County Detention Center to the Hopkins County jail at 11:40 a.m. on a warrant for unauthorized use of a vehicle. Bond was set at $25,000.

„ Christopher Lee Russell, 33, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at the north boat ramp on Airport Road at Lake Sulphur Springs at 7:23 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the location in reference to a welfare check. They were advised prior to arrival that Russell had an active Sulphur Springs warrant for a misdemeanor theft charge. Upon arrival, officers found Russell asleep inside his vehicle with drug paraphernalia in plain sight. They woke him up and had him exit the vehicle. During a probable cause search, Russell advised officers that he had drugs on his person. Officers located a brown pouch containing paraphernalia and a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance of suspected marijuana on Russell. He was booked into the Hopkins County jail on the theft warrant and a charge of possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1/1B controlled substance, officers alleged in arrest reports.

„ De Shaun Keith Denmark, 30, of Commerce was arrested during a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 30 near mile marker 123 at 11:15 p.m. on SSPD warrants for failure to appear and failure to maintain financial responsibility. During an inventory of Denmark’s vehicle, officers located a black plastic ziplock baggie containing a green, leafy substance of suspected drug paraphernalia, along with a digital scale.
