Briefs Sulphur Springs law enforcement activity over the past week included:

Wednesday, Nov. 15

Pamela Denise Tarrant, 51, of Mount Pleasant was transported from Linda Woodman State Jail in Gatesville to Hopkins County jail on a possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1/1-B controlled substance warrant.

Aryana Astralia Whitfield was arrested during a traffic stop on State Highway 11 at County Road 4713 at 9:23 p.m. on charges of driving while license invalid and failure to maintain financial responsibility. The 21-yearold Commerce woman was stopped for driving 73 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. Upon contact, she reportedly admitted her license was invalid and that the vehicle was uninsured. A records check confirmed the invalid license, as well as warrants for expired registration, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license invalid.

Nickie Michelle Robertson of Sulphur Springs was arrested during a traffic stop on eastbound Shannon Road on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, after officers located a glass pipe of the kind commonly used to smoke methamphetamine in the vehicle’s front passenger area. The 53-year-old was also found to have expired registration, expired operator’s license and theft warrants for her arrest.

Thursday, Nov. 16

Hopkins County Sheriff ’s deputies responded to a report of unauthorized vehicle at a Bill Bradford Road property, and a marijuana odor was reported to emit from the vehicle. Deputies located a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle during a probable cause search. The 17-year-old was taken into custody and the vehicle was released to the passenger. Bryan Ibarra Fernandez of Sulphur Springs was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Friday, Nov. 17

Mack Maloy Barrett Jr. was arrested on a charge of possession of a Penalty Group 1/1-B controlled substance. Deputies observed Barrett’s vehicle fail to stop at a designated stopping point and were aware the 41-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license, so they stopped him. Barrett reportedly exited the vehicle immediately and appeared to be agitated, according to arrest reports. Deputies noted that Barrett seemed to be in a hurry for the interaction with law enforcement to be over. When the Sulphur Springs man refused to let them search the vehicle, deputies called for a police canine. Deputy Drew Fisher and K-9 Axe arrived. Axe gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics emitting from the vehicle. Deputies located a 2.7 gram bag of a substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, suspected marijuana and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

HCSO Deputy Brennan Murray and Sgt. Scott Davis responded at 8:11 p.m. Friday on McBride Street in Como, where a disturbance had been reported. While talking to the individual alleged to have been involved in the altercation at a neighboring residence, deputies learned Jared Allen Vance pushed a female causing her to fall and hit her head on the ground, resulting in pain. The 24-year-old Como man and his wife were alleged to have been involved in an argument, with their three children present. Vance was arrested at 9:26 p.m. and transported to the county jail, where he was booked in at 1:46 a.m. Saturday, on a Class A misdemeanor family violence assault causing bodily injury charge, according to arrest reports.

A traffic stop at 7:31 p.m. on Interstate 30 west resulted in six arrests. Alvaro Ysmael Rodriguez Melus, 27, of Dallas was arrested for no driver’s license; and 28-year-old Christhian Perez Artahona, 31-year-old Luis Manuel Vasquez Aparesceo, 41-year-old Yeckson Cordero Infante, 28-yearold Jose Manuel Gallardo, and 22-year-old Jose Javier Gallardo, all of Dallas, were arrested on a Class C misdemeanor no safety belt charge.

Sulphur Springs Police received information regarding a wanted Wylie man’s location. Willie Sonny Evans Jr was located at a South Moore Street address. The 59-year-old was taken into custody by SSPD Officers Francisco Castro and James Jackson at 8:13 a.m. on a violation of parole warrant.

Saturday, Nov. 18

The passenger in a Chevrolet Impala stopped on Gilmer Street at 4:03 p.m. Nov. 18 was arrested by Sulphur Springs Police after a records check showed 59-year-old Lisa Franks Brookshire of Cooper had two warrants for speeding and failure to maintain financial responsibility- second offense.

A traffic stop on North Hillcrest Drive resulted in 55-year-old Shawn Lee Maddox’s arrest on a drug paraphernalia charge. A glass pipe with suspected burnt meth residue was found under the Cooper resident’s seat, according to arrest reports. A bag containing 0.67 gram of suspected methamphetamine was found under the front passenger’s seat floorboard, where Crissie Nicole Turner had been sitting, Sulphur Springs Police alleged in arrest reports. The 46-yearold was charged with possession of a controlled substance, reports noted.

Jackie Lynn Sands of Cooper was arrested on Gilmer Street on expired registration and failure to maintain financial responsibility warrants. He was stopped for no insurance, which he confirmed. A records check showed the warrants.
