Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement and emergency services activity from 5 a.m. Sept. 22 to 5 a.m. Sept. 26 included:

Friday, Sept. 22

„ Deputies Michael Chang and Steward located and took Jerry Lynn Ross into custody at 2:30 p.m. on a warrant for violation of parole on a burglary charge. The 60-yearold was booked into the county jail on the charge, according to arrest reports.

„ Hopkins County and Saltillo firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 30 west near mile marker 140 in Saltillo at 3:59 p.m

„ Hopkins County and North Hopkins firefighers responded at 7:37 p.m. to a vehicle crash on FM 71 at FM 3505. An arrest was made at the location.

„ Deputies responded at 7:25 p.m. to a vehicle crash on the north Interstate 30 service road near mile marker 127.

„ Hopkins County and Brinker firefighters and deputies responded at 8;31 p.m. to a vehicle crash on County Road 2310. Carl Eugene McGinnis reportedly exhibited signs of intoxication and alcohol emitted from the 39-yearold Sulphur Springs man. He was unaware of his whereabouts, but claimed to be driving from a store toward his residence. McGinnis failed field sobriety tests administered and admitted there was an open container he'd been consuming while driving. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open container, Deputy Brenna Murray and Lt. Wade Sheets noted in arrest reports.

Saturday, Sept. 23

„ Officer Francisco Castro contacted a man he knew to have a warrant. A records check confirmed it. Randall Oneal Fountain, 43, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at his residence at 10:24 a.m. Sept. 23 for defective or insufficient bond on a third or more driving while intoxicated charge. Bond was recommended at $50,000, according to arrest reports.

„ Two Sulphur Springs men, 27-year-old Tyler Brice Pollock and 25-year-old Ryan James Williams, were in a vehicle stopped on Jefferson Street. Both were arrested at 7:32 p.m. Sept. 23, Pollock on two expired operator’s license warrants and one failure to maintain financial responsibility warrant and Williams for possession of drug paraphernalia.

„ Sheriff's Lt. Wade Sheets an dDeputy Brennan Murray arrested Jason Marc Loban at 12:11 a.m. Sept. 23 on State Highway 11 east on a third or more driving while intoxicated charge. He was reported for 'driving all over the road' before finally pulling into a gas station parking lot. He allegedly admitted to witnesses that he was drunk and was detained by them until officers arrived. He allegedly admitted to driving from Sulphur Springs to Como, but said he hadn't consumed any after arriving, but did acknowledge he shouldn't be drivin. The 53-year-old Pickton man failed some field sobriety tests, but began swaying and was unsteady on his feet. Loban was charged with third or more DWI offense, after a records check showed two prior DWI convictions A blood search warrant was obtained. A sample was taken and he was jailed on the drunk driving charge, the deputies alleged in arrest reports.

„ Deputies, county firefighter and state troopers responded to a vehicle crash on Interstate 30 east near mile marker 128 at 12:12 a.m.

Sunday, Sept. 24

„ Sulphur Springs Police Sgt. Terry Miller arrested a 25-yearold Sulphur Springs man at 8:54 a.m. Sept. 24 on Interstate 30 for evading arrest with a vehicle, possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Kirk Patrick Jordan Jr. was observed speeding on I-30 at mile marker 127; he was traveling 90 miles per hour in a 75 mph speed zone. The officer caught up to him at mile marker 128 and attempted to stop the vehicle. He slowed down, but continued in the fast lane, turning on his “four ways” and continued to mile marker 131 before stopping at FM 69. He appeared to be reaching into the rear seat area, but the officer could not be certain what he was doing due to the window tint. He rolled down the window when the officer approached, but still appeared to be reaching behind him with one hand. The officer reported a marijuana odor emitted from the car. He had the man step out of the vehicle. Jordan admitted to having about 5 ounces of marijuana in a backpack. SSPD Officer Hoffman, who had arrived to assist, found a medium sized bag in the rear floor area; it was suspected to be marijuana. In the backpack, five small bags of marijuana were found. A pistol was found as well as other small bags of marijuana were also found.

„ Deputies responded to a vehicle crash on Interstate 30 at mile marker 141 at 3:04 p.m.

„ Deputies, Cumby Police, and Hopkins County responded to a vehicle fire on I-30 east at the county line at 7:38 a.m.

„ Deputiy Michael Chang located and took Joel Timothy Johnson into custody at 2:50 p.m. on a warrant for third or more DWI offense.

„ A state trooper arrested Lary Don Augenstein Jr. at 2:35 p.m. on State Highway 11 for possession of marijuana. He was stopped for not moving over for a stationary vehicle, when required. The 34-year-old Sulphur Springs man admitted to having two baggies of suspected marijuana when the trooper detected it.

„ Tomye Deleo Dockray was arrested by Deputies Kevin Lester, RW Greer and Zack Steward at 12:93 p.m. on County Road 2310 for assault of a family or household member that impedes breathing. The 48-year-old Sulphur Springs is accused of choking a female and impeding her breathing and punching her in the face iwth his fist. The 48-year-old was arrested on the third-degree felony assault charge, according to arrest reports.

Monday, Sept. 25

„ Hopkins County and Miller Grove firefighters responded from 11:05 a.m. to 12:12 p.m. to a fire on County Road 1136.

„ Sgt. Tanner Steward, Cpl. Justin Wilkerson and Deputy Isaac Foley located David Ray Rholes Jr. at 6:52 p.m. at his residence and took the 54-year-old Sulphur Springs man into custody on a warrant for violation of probation on a controlled substance charge; he was also charged with possession of drug parapharnalia. after a glass pipe of the kind used to smoke meth was found in his pocket.

„ Hopkins County and Como firefighters, deputies and troopers responded to a vehicle crash on FM 1567 at County Road 2327 at 6:59 p.m.

„ Deputy Frank Tiemann took Alendaer Grant Steven into custody at 4 p.m. at DFW Airport and transported him to Hopkins County jail, where the 19-year-old was booked in on a warrant for deadly conduct-discharging a firearm.
