Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement and emergency service activity from 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to 5:30 a.m. Friday incldued:

Tuesday, Sept. 19

„ Stephen Lynn Culbertson turned himself in at 8 p.m. to sheriff ’s office on two felony warrants. Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Sgt. Scott Davis escorted the 66-year-old Cumby man into the jail, where the man was booked in on two third-degree felony warrants accusing him of indecency with a child, according to arrest reports.

„ Theft of software for two games and a large TV and less than $150 in other merchandise was reported at Walmart Sept. 19.

„ A traffic stop on Jackson Street at Randolph Street Sept. 19 resulted in the arrest of two passengers on warrants: 20-year-old Joshua Allen Morton of Sulphur Springs on three for possession of drug paraphernalia, two for no driver’s license, and one each for speeding and leaving refuse on a highway; and 21-year-old Lynox Michael Newell of Sulphur Springs on an expired operator's license warrant, according to arrest reports.

„ Sulphur Springs Police Officer Sean Hoffman stopped James Michael Morris Jr. at 1:58 p.m. Sept. 19 on East Loop 301 for speeding. He displayed nervous indicators and agreed he was nervous. Hoffman reported a glass pipe of the kind commonly used to smoke methamphetamine and a bag containing suspected meth were located, resulting in the 37-year-old Sulphur Springs man being arrested on a possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1/1-B controlled substance charge.

„ Hopkins County and North Hopkins firefighters, and deputies responded from 7:59 p.m. Tuesday to 1:26 a.m. Wednesday on FM 71 west at FM 3505. Firefighters arrived first and began checking on the driver, who was still seated in the silver Dodge pickup. EMS arrived and began talking to 63-yearold Virgil Bruce Keys Jr., who paramedics noted was unsteady on his feet, had glassy red eyes and an alcoholic beverage odor emitted from him, and got stronger as he spoke. The Sulphur Springs man started standard field sobriety testing, then, refused to continue, HCSO Deputy Brennan Murray alleged in arrest reports. The man was taken into custody, then agreed to provide a blood sample for analysis. The sample was taken at the hospital emergency room, then Keys was transported to jail, where he was booked in at 8:15 p.m. on a driving while intoxicated charge.

„ HCSO Deputies Michael Chang and Zack Steward located Bradyn James Toles at 2:30 p.m. at his place of work and took the 19-year-old into custody on a felony warrant for injury to a child, elderly or disabled person resulting in intentional bodily injury.

„ A burn ban violation was reported on US Highway 67 east at 5:23 p.m.

„ Hopkins County deputies responded at 8:17 p.m. to a vehicle crash on County Road 2421 south of State Highway 11 east.

Wednesday, Sept. 20

„ Deputies served Asa Cole Bloyed with a warrant at a County Road 4128 residence. The 39-year-old Cumby man was arrested by HCSO Sgt. Tanner Steward and deputy Isaac Folley, and Cumby Police Officer Talley and jailed on the outstanding family violence assault of a household member that impeded breathing or circulation.

„ A 22-year-old man found sleeping on the floor of a park restroom was arrested at 3:09 a.m. Sept. 21 by Sulphur Springs Police Cpl. Silas Whaley and Roble Acosta for public intoxication. An alcohol odor was alleged to emit from Emillio Gregorio Richardo Aranda, who officers claimed had bloodshot, glassy eyes and had also urinated on himself.

„ A woman reported less than $400 charged to her debit card. A report for debit card abuse was made Sept. 20.

„ Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office communications operators answered 251 non-emergency calls and 31 emergency calls. Deputies responded to 41 calls for service, conducted two funeral escorts, made five traffic stops, and filed one drunk driving offense report. Six people were booked into and four were released from the county jail, which held 197 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

„ Hopkins County deputies and firefighters responded at 2:22 a.m. to a vehicle crash on State Highway 19 north.

Thursday, Sept. 21

„ A New Holland tractor was reported to have been stolen between Aug. 25 and Sept. 15 from Nortex Tractor.

„ Deputies stopped Leonardo Daniel Treto Alvarado at 6:54 a.m. on I-30 west for erratic driving. The vehicle continued for about a mile before stopping on the shoulder. The Grand Prairie man was arrested for failure to maintain a single lane traffic and not having insurance.

„ Eric Glenn Roden, 43, of Como and Tina Christine Stringer, 49, of Bogata were arrested at 12:38 a.m. on State Highway 11 east on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

„ Deputy Frank Tiemann transported Malavine Saafi from a state jail to the county jail on a controlled substance warrant.
