Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement activity from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday included:

Friday, Feb. 17

Deonta Dornell McKinney was allegedly driving a stolen Honda Pilot that eluded troopers Thursday afternoon. He ran following the pursuit, and allegedly broke a leg while evading authorities. A records check showed the 26-year-old Memphis, Tenn. man to be wanted in Fayette County, Tenn. McKinney was transported to the hospital and admitted for treatment of his injury. Upon dismissal from the hospital, McKinney was taken into custody at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the hospital. He was booked into jail on the outstanding aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery charges. Iftwas recommended he be held without bond on the three Fayette County charges, according to arrest reports. He was one of three arrested in connection with the vehicle pursuit.

Troopers responded just after 7 p.m.to assist deputies on a complaint of a reckless driver on State Highway 19 south Interstate 30 east near mile marker 124. The deputies reported the 36-year-old Mount Pleasant man showed signs of intoxication. The trooper reported smelling an alcoholic beverage on him. Cesar Medina-Canada admitted to consuming four Bud Light beers prior to being stopped, the trooper alleged in arrest reports. Medina-Canada tested 6 of 6 possible clues for intoxication. Upon arrival at the jail, he tested 0l147 and 0.158 grams per 210 liters on breath tests. The 36-year-old man was booked into jail for DWI.

HCSO Investigator Dennis Findley and Constable John Beadle located Donald Wayen McDowell of Paris at 4:56 p.m. on Fisher Street and took him into custody on Lamar County warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and theft of property.

Troopers contacted a 31-year-old Cumby man around 10:30 p.m. while responding to a one-vehicle crash on FM 3134. An alcohol odor was smelled on him. He failed horizontal gaze nystagmus tests and tested 0.177 and 0.173 grams/210 L. David Earl Mobley was booked in for driving while intoxicaDeputies transported Willie Hastings Jr.from Beto Unit in Tennessee to Hopkins County jail, where the 69-year-old Tennessee Colony man was booked in on a forgery of financial instrument.

Saturday, Feb. 18

A 36-year-old Cooper man was arrested first after admitting to taking one catalytic converter from a vehicle at a County Road 1106 property, where he had previously done some work. He later admitted to using a reciprocating saw, which he said was in the trunk of his vehicle, to remove seven additional catalytic converters from vehicles at the address. A search of the vehicle netted instruments that can be used to commit crime. Christopher Lee Price was jailed on eight counts of violation of House BIll 4110- theft of catalytic converters.

Sunday, Feb. 19

A traffic stop on Church Street resulted in 31-year-old Jhonathan Todoberto-Loma of Sulphur Springs’ arrest at 12:24 a.m. on a no driver’s license charge.

A 43-year-old Lomeda, Texas man was unable to produce his driver’s license during a routine traffic stop on South Hillcrest Drive. Jeremiah Callahan was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after a broken meth pipe, a small amount of marijuana and a bag with suspected meth residue were located in the vehicle.

James Frederick Bell exhibited classic indicators of intoxication when found in public. The 53-year-old Nashville, Tenn. man was arrested at 9:12 l.m. on Church Street for public intoxication.

A 23-year-old Frisco man was arrested at 5:58 p.m. on Park Springs Road for criminal trespassing. He’d been issued a warning earlier in the day not to return to the location. Police were alerted he’d returned. Police found James Mines III hiding in a closet and arrested him for criminal trespass.

Cumby police stopped a vehicle on Interstate 30 west at 1:13 p.m. for not having a front license plate. He detected a marijuana odor in the car while talking to the occupants. The passenger, Zhane McElroy was found to be in possession of less than an ounce of suspected marijuana, while driver Zhane McElroy was caught with two debit/ credit cards that did not belong to him nor anyone else in the vehicle. The 26-year-old driver, Deontae Rayshaad Earl Harper of Fort Worth , was booked into the county jail on a fraudulent use or possession of credit/ debit cards. The 25-yearold Arlington passenger, McElroy, was arrested for possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

Monday, Feb. 20

A 34-year-old Sulphur Springs man was accused of threatening to kill his mother and sister, displaying a knife as he did so, police alleged in arrest reports. Boshmone Cord Higgins was arrested at 10 p.m. on East Spence Street on an aggravated family violence assault charge.

Police responded to a disturbance on College Street, where a woman allegedly took an item from inside the business. Officers saw her exit the building and try to get into a vehicle, then walking toward College Street. Officers blocked in the car to prevent it from leaving, then detained the woman. The 26-year-old Waterloo, Iowa woman initially refused to identify herself, but did eventually. Alexandria Mae Newsom allegedly admitted to taking a wallet from the building. She was arrested on a theft of property charge. A 31-year-old Toledo, Ohio woman who entered the building with Newsom was also detained. She eventually admitted she’d lied to police regarding her identifying information. As a resultLatasha Janaey Lanire was arrested at 4:10 p.m. for failure to identify.

Sebastian Caine Page of Gainesville was transported from Cook County jail to Hopkins County jail, where she was booked in on warrants for bond forfeiture on a possession of a controlled substance charge and unlawful possession of a deadly weapon.

Police responded at 11:46 a.m. on East Industrial Drive to a property dispute. Upon arrival, they contacted Michael James Huddleston. A records check showed the 53-year-old Sulphur Springs man to be wanted in Delta on a warrant for failure to appear on a possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana charge.

A deputy responding to a noise complaint in the area of County Road 2403 at 6:31 a.m. . He contacted Zachary Morseth, who he noted was walking down the road with a Bluetooth speaker. When he emptied his pockets as requested, the 25-year-old Winnsboro man pulled out a marijuana pipe. A search of Morseth’s bag revealed a bag with suspected methamphetamine residue and a scale. He also agreed to allow the deputy to search his bedroom at the residence where he lives. They found several additional items of drug paraphernalia. Morseth was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

A traffic stop on I-30 east by Cumby police resulted in a search due to a marijuana odor detected in the vehicle when officers spoke with the driver. Officers reported finding 18.5 grams of suspected Alprazolam pills. Markita Curry was arrested for possession of less than 28 grams of a controlled substance.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

Willie Edward Black III turned himself in at the sheriff ’s office at 4:42 a.m The 24-year-old Sulphur Springs resident was escorted into the county jail, where he was booked in on an aggravated sexual assault charge.
