Hopkins County law enforcement and fire department activity from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday included:

Friday

Deputy Bobby Osornio was made aware of a warrant issued for Christopher Lee Skeen Jr.’s arrest, a man already in custody. They served the 22-year-old Sulphur Springs man with the forgery of a financial instrument warrant. Bond was recommended to be set at $250,000, according to arrest reports.

Corrections Lt. Whitney Waller served Dana Lynn Attaway with a warrant at the jail, where she was in custody, at 9:36 p.m. The tampering with or fabricating physical evidence offense was added to the list of charges the 37-year-old Pittsburg woman is accused of. Bond was recommended to be set at $5,000.

Trooper Arturo Ugalde stopped Reyes Eduardo Pena at 4:40 p.m. on Interstate 30 west near mile marker 117 for not having a front license plate. He reported smelling a marijuana odor emitting from the Ford CV. A search revealed a THC straw, bag containing marijuana, and a glass pipe with meth residue. Pena was also in possession of a Texas ID card and admitted he didn’t have a driver’s license. Pena was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance, no driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies Frank Tieman and Philip Ryan took Jason William Helmholtz into custody at St. Charles County jail in Missouri, and transported him to Hopkins County jail, where the 47-year-old Wentzville, Missouri man was booked into jail at 6:30 a.m. on a warrant for violation of probation on a possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance charge. Bond was recommended to be set at $150,000, according to arrest reports.

Sgt. Scott Davis and Deputy Bobby Osorio stopped John Elan Debow at 7:54 p.m. on State Highway 19 north at FM 71 for a traffic violation and took the 42-year-old Cooper man into custody for expired drivers license.

Hopkins County firefighters and deputies responded from 7:42 to 8:46 a.m. on FM 2653 at FM 71 west to a vehicle crash.

Saturday

Deputy Justin Wilkerson and Sgt. Scott Davis stopped Hulen Ray Zachary Jr. at 12:47 a.m. on State Highway 19 north at FM 71 for a defective headlight. Upon contact with Zachary and the passenger, 24-year-old Jatavari Gerald “JT” Robinson of Paris, they noted Zachary to show signs of nervousness, including rapid speech and hesitancy to discuss his criminal history, Zachary also refused deputies’ request to search the Chevrolet Silverado he’d been driving. He was asked to exit the pickup and admitted, although hesitantly, that he wasn’t sure if there was anything illegal in the vehicle or not. Fisher retrieved his police canine, Axe. The dog gave a positive alert on the truck. Deputies found two hypodermic needles with a clear liquid the deputies stated in arrest reports they believed was methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia with what appeared to be meth residue on them items. Both the 40-yearold Saltillo man driving and Robinson were detained, then admitted to deputies they were aware there was meth in the truck and were in possession of the substance. Both were arrested for possession of approximately 50CCs (less than 1 gram) of suspected meth in the syringes.

Sulphur Springs Police Officer Dustin Green took Moises Abraham Torres into custody at 11:04 p.m. on Fuller Street following a traffic stop. The 26-yearold Sulphur Springs man was booked into jail on a no driver’s license charge, according to arrest reports.

SSPD Officer Sean Hoffman responded to a crash on South Broadway Street at 4 p.m. Kyle Charles Ragsdale of Mount Vernon was the passenger in the vehicle involved in the crash. A records check showed the 33-year-old Mount Vernon. man was booked in on warrants for violation of probation, speeding and driving while license invalid. The man has allegedly had a problem on his birth certificate fixed, stating the man’s name is Rasdale, not Ragsdale.

Deputy Justin Wilkerson stopped Sean William Ashby at 3:41 p.m. on I-30 east at mile marker 118 for a traffic violation. When asked for his driver’s license, he presented a firearm license. When the man appeared notably shaky, the deputy had him get out. The deputy found prescription testosterone in a bottle, which he admit was not prescribed to him. Hypodermic syringes used to inject the substance were found in the vehicle. Two grocery sacks with suspected marijuana were found in the trunk, along with two boxes containing THC cartridges. The 54-year-old Quinlan man was taken into custody for possession of 1.8 grams of a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance (THC).

Cumby Police Officer Justin Talley stopped Jessica Carolina Valenzuela for a traffic violation on Depot Street at 10:30 p.m. A records check showed the 27-year-old Cumby woman to be wanted in Denton on a possession of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance charge.

Sunday

Isaiah Monique “Zeek” Hearn, 33, of Mineola met SSPD officers at the door of a Fuller Street apartment, where they were attempting to serve a search warrant warrant, at 10:40 p.m. He admitted to having a handgun and ammunition on him. He was found to be a convicted felon. He was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon as well as warrants for violation of parole and no driver’s license.

Monday

HCSO Sgt. Todd Evans was asked by Seabrook police to check a State Highway 19 north address for an excavator that’d been stolen. Evans pulled in and saw several. He contacted Juan Antonio Banuelos-Rios, 33, of Sulphur Springs at 1:10 p.m. He led Evans to one at the back of the driveway. Evans checked the machine and determined it was stolen. Banuelos-Rios agreed to let authorities check the property for stolen property. Investigator Michael Russell and Sgt. Chris Baumann assisted. Three additional machines were determined to be stolen. He could provide limited information on the items and had not titles for them. Thus, Banuelos-Rios was arrested on 4 possession of stolen property valued at $30,000 or more but less than $150,000 charges, according to arrest records.

Tuesday

Imer Isai Rivera, 27, of Dallas was stopped on I-30 west at mile marker 121 for traffic violations. He provided a Honduras ID and admitted he had no driver’s license. He was not honest about his travels, deputies alleged. Approximately $9,800 in currency was found in the vehicle. He claimed to have transported two people first to somewhere in the norther US, then from Amarillo to Nashville. Rivera was arrested at 2:28 a.m. on a money laundering charge, deputies alleged in arrest reports.
