30 SSHS students compete in recent event at Wylie

Thirty students from Sulphur Springs High School competed in a variety of hands-on real-life business-related tests as well as judged events at the Business Professionals of America Regional Leadership Competition at Wylie East High School on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023.

Twenty-two students scored high enough to advance to the BPA State Leadership Conference to be held March 2-5 in Dallas.

SSHS BPA Advisor Lynn Smith reported the following result from the Regional Conference:

• Fundamental Accounting Associate – second place Holden Moss.

• Banking and Finance – fifth place Austin Chaney, fourth place Katlyn Noe, third place Anniston Price and first place Claire Monk, with all advancing to state; and Caleb Kesting, Associate, advancing.

• Personal Finance Management – first place Kylie Clarke.

• Fundamental Word Processing – eighth place Charles Lee, fourth place Matthew Atkinson state qualifier and second Macy Williams.

• Basic Office Systems and Procedures – seventh place Brooklyn Shelton, sixth Maddox Potts and fifth Jackie Diosdado (advancing to state).

• Associate advancing Office Systems and Procedures – first place Mika Boren, advancing to state.

• Legal Office Procedures – second place Jack Bain, fourth place Grayson Wall, advancing to state.

 

• Admin Support Team – first place Caleb Kesting and Mika Boren, advancing to state.

• Admin Support Research Individual – first place Jaci Robinson and second place Kenzie Posey, advancing to state.

• Associate Business Law and Ethics – first place Jonah Foster, advancing to state.

• Business Law and Ethics – third place Camila Hidalgo, advancing to state.

• Device Configuration and Troubleshooting – first place Ryan Mitchell, advancing to state.

• JAVA Programming – fourth place Andres Flores, advancing to state

• Graphic Design Promotion – sixth place Wyatt Watson, alternate for state.

• Fundamentals of Web Design – second place Alexis Villarino, advancing to state.

• Entrepreneurship – fourth place Geronimo Lindley, alternate to state.

• Interview Skills – sixth place Amani Finnie and fourth place Layla Pogue, alternates for state.

• Advancing Interview Skills – first place Harmony Goodman, advancing to state.

• Prepared Speech – first place Ashland Hooten.
