2024 Texas US Route 67 VW Road Trip to stop in Sulphur Springs

Sulphur Springs will host a group of day trippers who will spend their spring break taking part in the 2024 Texas US Route 67 VW Road Trip. The group of classic Volkswagen Beetles and Buses is scheduled to traverse US Highway 67 from Texarkana to Presidio the week of March 11-14, 2024.

'We will be departing from Olive Street Vintiques, 105 Olive St, Texarkana, Arkansas, at 9 a.m. Monday, March 11. Our first night's stop will be in Glen Rose, Texas, followed by overnight stops in Brownwood, Fort Stockton and Presidio,' notes Gary Alexander of Round Rock, Texas. 'This will be a classic car cruise like none other as we will take US Route 67 across Texas.'

Orr Volkswagen of Texarkana, located at 4545 North State Line Ave. in Texarkana, Texas, will be hosting a Pre-Road Trip Gathering on Sunday, March 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. A few area food trucks are expected to be there too.

The trip itnerary's nightly stops are planned as follows:

„ Monday, March 11— Cedar Ridge RV Park, 4475 US 67, Glen Rose, Texas.

„ Tuesday, March 12— Fabis Park, Brownwood, Texas.

„ Wednesday, March 13 —James Mooney Park, S Spring Dr, Fort Stockton, Texa.

„ Thursday, March 14 — Arrenosa Group Camp, Big Bend Ranch State Park.

„ Friday, March 15 — Menard RV Park, Menard County RV Park, Menard, Texas.

Anyone with a VW Bug or bus is welcome to join group along the route for a fun week among fellow VW enthusiasts.

The VWs are slated to make special stops along the way to see some of the unique and notable sights and hospitality Texas has to offer. Among them are the Southwest Dairy Center and Museum in Sulphur Springs, where the day trippers will have an opportunity to take photos withthe giant cows on the first day of their journey.

Celebration Plaza will also be rolling out the welcome mat at lunchtime March 11 and extending an invitation for the VW travelers to take a gander at Sulphur Springs' famous glass restrooms, enjoy a meal from any of our fine eating establisments in Celebration District and along Interstate 30, stroll downtown and visit the Veterans Memorial. They'll have plenty of places to fuel up the VW and pick up snacks for the next leg of their journey. All are always welcome to stop by the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street to see what's going on.
