Brian Crump, executive director of CANHelp of Sulphur Springs, was the recent speaker for the Sulphur Springs Kiwanis Club.
Crump said, 'We at CANHelp do our best to serve the people with needs in the county.'
Crump pointed out that CANHelp was given the Community Pride award at the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce banquet.
'We're proud of that award and recognition, but the award really goes to our volunteers and the great people in the community and the county who support us.' Crump said.
He pointed out many accomplishments of CANHelp, noting that in 2022 donations of more than $100,000 helped families with rent, utility and basic needs; also during 2022, the organization provide $25,824 in school supplies and coats to students in the Hopkins County.
The organization has helped 968 individuals find help, including 142 who were helped to remain stably housed.
CANHelp also serves as the Northeast Texas Area Information Center for 211 Texas and provided information and referrals to 56,000 individuals in need.
'Many people know us because of our Thrift Store, but we do much more. We help clients each day and work to help more people in the community,” Crump said. “We want to help people get back on their feet and become self-sufficient. We don't just hand out money, we work with them on budgets and being responsible.'
