Sayki, Idinia race in NCAA First Rounds

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — East Texas A&M University women's track and field hurdlers Amara Idinna and Sandy Sakyi closed out their 2025-26 seasons at the NCAA West First Rounds on Thursday evening at John McDonnell Field.

Both in their freshman seasons, Idinna and Sakyi ran in the 100 meter hurdles first round. Sakyi timed 13.487 seconds for 29th and Idinna clocked in at 13.70 seconds for 39th.

Only the top 24 finishers in the first round of races qualify for Saturday's quarterfinals.

The Lion women return to John McDonnell Field Saturday to close out the meet. Romi Griese starts the day with the discus at 1 p.m., followed by Jenneil Jacobie competing in the high jump.

The Lion men concluded their meet on Friday. Calen Jones took part in the high jump to begin the day, followed by the men's 4x100 meter relay and Enoch Fosuhene racing in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash later in the evening.
