Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting reported at a residence in northern Hopkins County May 12.
At 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, HCSO received a complaint of suspicious activity at a County Road 4779 residence, immediately followed by a call of a shooting at the location; this followed a report made at 10 a.m. of a disturbance in that area, according to dispatch reports.
“Upon arrival at the location, investigators reviewed footage from a Ring doorbell camera. The footage showed an individual, identified as Buck Clary, striking the glass front door of the residence while yelling. Clary subsequently broke a portion of the glass and reached inside the home. The homeowner then discharged a firearm through the door, striking Clary,” HCSO Chief Deputy Tanner Crump stated in a release Wednesday about the shooting.
Clary was transported by Hopkins County EMS to a local medical facility, where he was later pronounced deceased by a justice of the peace, Crump reported.
“This incident remains under active investigation by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office. No further information is available for release at this time,” Crump stated.
No arrests had been reported at time, and based on the video of the incident, nor had the name of the homeowner who fired the weapon been released.
