After eight years as the Director of Bands for Sulphur Springs Independent School District, Spencer Emmert announced he will be taking on a new role for 2026-2027 school year — at Barbers Hill ISD as fine arts and head band director. He is succeeding Chris Brannan, following his retirement at the end of this school year.
“Sulphur Springs has been our home for 24 years and will always hold a special place in our family’s hearts and lives,” Emmert said. “With twenty total years teaching in the district, I will cherish so many amazing memories and look forward to what the future holds for the Wildcat Band.”
Emmert brings 24 years of teaching experience and a distinguished record of achievement. Under his leadership, his bands have consistently earned numerous UIL awards, first-division ratings, State qualifications and more.
His wife, Christi, will be teaching Elementary Music there, as well, and they look forward to joining the Barbers Hill Eagle family, according to Emmert.
