James Andrew Rouse 'Andy' was born on July 9, 1945, in Marshall, Texas. He passed away peacefully at The Village of Gleannloch Farms in Spring, Texas, on Oct. 6, 2024.
Andy was the son of James and Mary Vaden Rouse. Andy's father was in World War II and stationed at Fort Hood in Temple, Texas. His father's family were from Arkansas. His mother's family were from pioneer families in the northern part of Hopkins County. Andy graduated from Port Neches Grove High School in 1963. He attended East Texas State in Commerce Texas, from 19631965. He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 1967 with a BS in Education.
Andy taught school for 35 years. He taught Earth Science in middle school. From 1968-1986 he was a teacher in Bridge City, Texas, in Orange County. He moved to the Houston area in 1986 and taught in Aldine School District in North Houston, Spring, Texas.
After Andy's father passed away, his mother, Mary Rouse, moved to Houston and lived in a town-home which was only two driveways apart from Andy's residence. Andy was president of their HOA for 10 years. He and his mother delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. Both were members of the Weslyan Methodist Church in Spring, Texas. Andy continued teaching and taught English as a second language for several years through a community college.
Andy is survived by his siblings, Judy Lohmann and her husband, John, in The Woodlands, Texas, Pete Rouse and his wife, Brenda, in Pearland, Texas, and Kay Rouse in Katy, Texas. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews, Courtney Peper and her husband, Brian, and three children, Charlotte Peper, Sage Walker, Paloma Ring and her husband, Ryan, and their child, Calum, Chad Lang, and Tran Le and Kayla Lang, Amy Leeper and her husband, Grant, and their child, Hudson and Scott Rouse.
Andy is also survived by two cousins, Tom Sellers and his wife, Pam, and their daughter Katy Ramirez and her husband Sergio with their child Sophia, Jacob Sellers and his wife Addie and their two children Charlie and Shepard, and John Sellers and wife Kim and their son Eli and his wife Arielle.
