SCHEDULE

Monday

„ Christian Initiation Sessions are held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 297 Texas St. All are invited to “come and increase your knowledge about God and the Catholic Church.” For more information, call Mary Besze at 903-5885652.

Tuesday

„ Midweek Eucharist is scheduled at 1 p.m. in the chapel, and Bible Study from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 1206 College St.

Wednesday

„ 10% Club is the community partner for the Dinner Bell Feeding Ministry on July 12, and the Lions Club of Sulphur Springs will help with tasks needed to facilitate the meal. The grab and go meal will be distributed under the covered driveway on the northeast corner of the First United Methodist Church campus starting around 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

• The July 12 Dinner Bell Menu includes: Baked Chicken Pieces, Chili Cheese Frito Corn Salad, Black-eyed Peas, Slang Jang, Buttered French Bread Slices and 20 Minute Chocolate Cake (Texas Sheet Cake—same cake, different name.)

• Coordinator Judy Gilreath urges all to “take care of yourself by following safe healthy practices as flu and COVID are lurking. Wear masks, Dinner Bell cares about you.”

First Baptist Church — Sulphur Springs will have no midweek activities during the month of July. Regular midweek activities, including the Wednesday fellowship meal, will resume Aug. 23.

„ Midweek service will be held Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church, FM 2285 at CR 4762. The Rev. Troy Young is pastor.

St. Philip's Episcopal Church hosts

• Bible Study every Wednesday from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

• Compline, a 15-minute end of day service, is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays

• Alpha, a series of group conversations that explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly environment, is hosted Wednesdays at 6 p.m. through Sept. 6. RSVP to Rector@stphilipssulphursprings. com

Friday

Cumby Food Pantry will be open 8 to 11 a.m. every Friday at 8285 Interstate 30 service road southwest in Cumby for families in Cumby, Hopkins County and surrounding areas who are in need. Those on Pan Program can now pick up one box per month on Friday. Donations are welcome. For information, call 903-994-2689, and for food emergencies, call 903-513-4612.

Mitchell Chapel C.O.G.I.C. will host lunch from 10:30 a.m. until it’s all gone for a $10 donation. Dine in or carryout available. Menus vary by the week. Deliveries can be made for orders of two or more lunches to the same location. The church is at 402 South Jackson St. in Sulphur Springs. For more information, call 903-885-0338.

„ Christian Recovery Group meets Fridays at 7 p.m. at New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church, 155 North Jackson St. in Sulphur Springs, for those with addictions, broken emotions or broken relationships. For information, call the church office at 903-885-0624 during regular business hours, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Monday-Friday.

Sunday

St. Luke Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs will hold Sunday School at 9 a.m.; and Morning Worship at 10:15 a.m. Midweek Service Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. The church is located at FM 2285 and County Road 4762. Rev. Troy Young, Pastor.

First United Methodist Church each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. hosts Ignite contemporary service in the Ignite Worship Center-Family Life Center and at 11: a.m. holds a traditional service in the sanctuary.

• First United Methodist Church’s backto- the-basics sermon series entitled, “It's All About God” continues as follows: • July 16 — God the Holy Spirit

• July 23 — God's Church

• July 30 — God's World

• Worship times are 9 a.m. for the Ignite service and 11 a.m. for the Traditional Service. On July 30, there will be one combined service at 11 a.m. in the Family Life Center with a lunch following in Fellowship Hall. The church is located at 301 Church St., just a block north of the square. The service can also be viewed online at www.ssfumc.org.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Gafford Chapel Cemetery's annual Memorial Day begins at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, July 9, at the Gafford Chapel Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend.

„ Vacation Bible School at Calvary Baptist Church, 130 Lee Street, will be from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. July 17-21

First Baptist Church-Sulphur Springs will host:

• America’s Got Talent FBC Edition Aug. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gym. Hot dogs and popcorn will be served.

• Bingo Night and Bake Off will be held Aug. 9 in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. All are invited to join in a fun night of bingo and a dessert.
