CPCISD Volunteers of the Year recognized

Como-Pickton Consolidated School District Board of Trustees recognized Martha and W.B. Cox as the Volunteers of the Year during the school board meeting on Monday, May 11.

The Coxs, a retired couple from Grace Methodist Church, have faithfully prayed over the district and transported the Back Pack Buddy deliveries from the food bank to CPCISD every month this school year, according to CPCISD Superintendent Lydia Walden.

“We deeply appreciate their commitment to serving our families,” Walden said.

During the superintendent reports, Walden con-gratulated the girls softball team as they head into the next round of play-offs.

For construction, the career and technical education building is now 74% complete, and the new gym is still undergoing a list of updates, including adding signage.

The new hires include Jackie Jackson who will be filling the role of Food Service Director; Alyssa Dillingham will be teaching kindergarten; Marie Sanders will teach high school science; April Self will be teaching an added classroom under “Life Skills”; and Lezley Brown was approved as the new Executive Director of Education Services and Communication.

Other Business The board approved the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) annual report. CPCISD nurse Holly Self presented the the report during the meeting.

The elementary school library books regarding Senate Bill 13 regulations were approved.

The report on the new contract with the Greenville Regional Day School for the Deaf was approved.

The July school board meeting was cancelled, and the August meeting was moved to Aug. 11.

The board approved an agreement with Morgan, Davis and Company for the CPCISD 2025-2026 audit.
