Potter goes 4/4 from plate

MILLER GROVE — The Saltillo Lions cruised their way to a victory last Wednesday, shutting out the Miller Grove Hornets 14-0 on the road. They would get off a strong start early on and never let up, leading to a dominant win.

The Lions would set the tone of the game early on, scoring five runs in the first inning and taking a 5-0 lead. In the second inning, the Lions added four more runs, bringing the score to 9-0.

The Lions scored another run in the third inning, raising the score to 10-0. Another four runs came in the fourth inning, bringing the score to 14-0. After a scoreless fifth inning, the game came to an end, as the Lions polished off a 14-0 shut out win.

As a team, the Lions batted 15 for 34 (.441) from the plate. Tobin Potter led the way, going a perfect 4/4. Right behind was Mason Stillwagoner with three hits.

Eathan Rees and Dylan Teel added two hits each, while Draden Boyd, Kolbe Cook, Grayson Gurley, and Jordan Metcalf came up with one hit a piece.

Potter also finished as the leading scorer with four runs. Metcalf was right behind with three runs. Stillwagoner added two runs, while Boyd, Gurley, Rees, Teel, and Lucas Womack tallied one run each.

With the win, the Lions improved to 2-2 in district and 6-5 overall. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming the Yantis Owls to Saltillo High School.
