Hopkins County law enforcement and emergency services activity from 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to 5:30 a.m. Thursday included:

Tuesday, April 30

„ Deputies investigated a report of suspicious activity reported at 8:01 a.m. on County Road 3528.

„ Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office and Fire Department personnel responded from 12:48 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. to a vehicle crash on Fm 1567 west.

„ Deputies responded to a vehicle crash on FM 69 south from 2 to 2:32 p.m.

„ Sheriff’s officers responded assisted on First Street in Cooper at 12:10 a.m.

„ Deputies talk to a person on State Highway 11 east about a stolen vehicle. After obtaining additional information, the deputies gleaned the matter to be a civil one, but did issue a criminal trespass in relation to the call, according to sheriff ’s office reports.

„ Sheriff’s Cpl. Zack Steward received information that Daniel Lee Baxter was wanted in Hunt County. First, the deputy checked the Sulphur Springs man’s residence looking for him, but had no luck. Then, he went to the 37-yearold man’s place of work in Como, located Baxter and took him into custody at 1:25 p.m. on the Hunt County invasive visual recording warrant.

„ Theft of two DeWalt batteries was reported at a Gilmer Street business.

„ Assault of one teen by another was reported to have occurred on West Industrial Drive April 24.

Wednesday, May 1

„ A sheriff’s deputy took Bradford Wesley Jones into custody at 3 p.m. at the adult probation office on two warrants for violation of probation which he was on for possession of controlled substance charges. Bond was recommended to be set at $150,000 per charge.

„ Deputies responded to a vehicle crash on State Highway 11 west from 12:11 to 12:52 p.m.

„ Arbala firefighters and deputies responded to a vehicle crash on County Road 1174 from 2:14 to 3:17 p.m.

„ Deputy Drew Fisher stopped Shelby Shaylen Johnston at 8:58 p.m. on FM 2297 at Pryor Lane for speeding. A records check showed the 31-year-old Emory woman was wanted in Grayson County. Johnston was arrested on the Class A misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury warrant.

„ Hopkins County Communications operators answered 239 non-emergency phone calls and 30 emergency calls during the 24-hour period ending Wednesday morning. Deputies answered 38 calls for service conducted two inmate transports and made three traffic stops. Two people were booked into and seven were released from the county jail, which held 209 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

„ Cumby Officer K. Hackney stopped a Hyundai Accent that was being driven too close to another vehicle on Interstate 30 east near mile marker 116 around 5 p.m., and ended up taking both the driver, 35-year-old Ashton Leigh Carter of Cumby, and passenger, 37-year-old Brandon Wayne Guynes of Mesquite, into custody on warrants. Carter was booked in on Sulphur Springs failure to maintain financial responsibility, no driver’s license and theft warrants. Guynes was arrested on a Hunt County charge revoking his probation on a forgery of government, national instrument, money or security warrant.

Thursday, May 2

„ Communications operators answered 180 non-emergency phone calls and 29 calls for service. Deputies responded to 56 emergency calls, conducted inmate transport, provided one funeral escort, made 29 traffic stops and filed two offense reports. Four people were booked into and six were released from the county jail, which held 207 inmates at 5:30 am. Thursday.
