CANTON — The Sulphur Springs Wildcatd golf team finished in second place at Regionals behind a very talented Mabank team, and are headed back to State for the second year in a row. Over the course of two days, the Wildcats shot a 608, which is their best two day total ever, even beating what they shot at State last year (615).

Gage Gideon shot a 71 (-1) on the second day, tying for 1st place individually. He battled extremely hard in the playoff but ultimately lost to a birdie on the fourth playoff hole. Three individuals make the All- Region Team, as well: Gage Gideon second, Nick Burney tied-fourth, and Luke White ninth.

As a team, they shaved 34 strokes off from last year. Individually, Gideon shaved 18 strokes, Burnet shaved 13 strokes, White shaved 18 strokes, and Tran shaved 15 strokes. Newsom played two of his best rounds in his first regional tournament.

With these results, the Wildcats qualified for the State Tournament, which will be held April 29 and 30 in Kingsland.
