All three incumbents will remain on Sulphur Springs City Council for another full term, the 260 voters casting ballots determined. Two drew no opponents, while two candidates vied for Place 3 on the Saturday, May 4 ballot.

Both Place 1 Councilman Jay Julian and Place 2 Councilman Harold Nash Sr. were each unopposed, receiving all 196 votes cast, giving them easily 100% of the votes.

Julian received 34 absentee votes, 98 votes cast during the early voting period and 64 votes on Election Day. Eleven people casting absentee ballots, 36 voting early and 17 on Election Day opted not to cast ballots for Place 1.

Nash received 35 absentee ballots, 95 early votes and 66 on Election Day, amounting to 100% of ballots cast. However, there were 10 absentee voters, 39 early voters and 15 Election Day voters who opted not to vote for Place 2 on the City Council.

Of the 260 voters casting ballots in the General City Council Election, 250 voters cast ballots for the Place 3 race. Overall, Seth McDaniel received 34.4% of votes cast and Oscar Aguilar 65.6%, with 10 people opting to not vote for Place 3 — five absentee voters, three early voters and two on Election Day.

McDaniel received 18 absentee ballots, 44 early votes and 24 on Election Day. Aguilar received 22 absentee ballots, 87 early votes and 55 votes on Election Day. Thus, the Place 3 seat will go to Aguilar, according to the election totals, which remain unofficial until canvassed.

The oath of office will be administered to Julian, Nash and Aguilar at a future meeting to begin their new terms in office.
