Lady Bears lose to Alba-Golden, 19-0

ALBA — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears suffered a big loss last Tuesday, falling 19-0 to the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers on the road. They would struggle all game and couldn’t establish any rhythm, leading to a loss.

The first inning set the tone early on, as the Lady Panthers scored seven runs, established an early 7-0 lead.

Alba-Golden then added seven more runs in the second inning, increasing their lead to 14-0.

In the third inning, the Lady Panthers added five more runs, making the score 19-0. After the Lady Bears were held scoreless in the top of the fourth inning, the game ended, as the Lady Bears suffered a 19-0 loss.

As a team, the Lady Bears batted 5 for 17 (.294) from the plate. Emma Carr and Emma Neal tallied two hits each, while Dylan Strain added one hit.

Madi Collett suffered the loss in the circle. Across one inning, she surrendered seven earned runs, four walks, and two hits, managing two strikeouts. Natalie Carrell pitched two innings in relief, allowing 12 earned runs, eight hits, and seven walks.

With the loss, the Lady Bears end the regular season at 2-17 overall. They will now focus on the upcoming playoffs.

The Lady Bears will take on the Avery Lady Bulldogs in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. The game will be, Thursday, April 25 at Sulphur Bluff High School.
