Cumby Collegiate ISD recognizes Kate Taylor and Mallory Wheat as the top honor graduates for the CC High School Class of 2024.

Valedictorian

Kate Taylor is the valedictorian for Cumby Collegiate High School, with a 4.1160 grade point average.

She is an active member of school FFA Chapter, serving as vice-president. She has also competed in numerous livestock shows, as well as Leadership Development Events and Career Development Events. One of her many accomplishments as a member of this organization is receiving her Lone Star Degree, the highest degree of membership a state FFA organization can award.

Taylor is also a member of the National Honor Society, Senior Beta, and has recently earned her TSFA Level 1 Floral Certification.

She will be receiving an Associate’s Degree from Paris Junior College on May 10. After graduation, Taylor plans to attend Texas A&M University – Commerce to earn a degree in animal science/pre-veterinarian.

Taylor is the daughter of Mitchell and Gabrielle Taylor of Cumby.

Salutatorian

Mallory Wheat is the salutatorian of Cumby Collegiate High School, with a GPA of 4.1153.

Wheat is a member of the National Honor Society, where she serves as chapter treasurer. She is also a member of the Hopkins County Leadership Class, the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, Senior Beta.

She too participated in One Act Play, and is on the yearbook staff, where she has served as the editor for three years.

Wheat is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Paris Junior College, and will graduate on May 10 with an Associate’s Degree and a Nurse Aide certification.

Wheat will attend Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where she has been accepted into the Redwine Honors Program to study radiologic technology. Her career goal is to be a certified ultrasound technician.

Wheat is the daughter of Jeff and Robin Wheat of Cumby.

Taylor and Wheat will be honored along with the other members of the CHHS Class of 2024 with a graduation service May 24.
