Saturday is last day to vote in municipal, school elections

At least three entities in Hopkins County are holding elections. Sulphur Bluff ISD and Sulphur Springs ISD voters are asked to consider passing a bond, while Sulphur Springs City Council has three terms expiring this month.

Sulphur Springs ISD also has two board members whose terms end this month. Kati Adair and Brian Kelly drew no challengers, assuring they will each be seatsed on the school board. For those who live in Sulphur Springs or Sulphur Bluff, below is the pertinent information for those who have yet to cast ballots in these elections.

Sulphur Springs City Council

Election Day Voting: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 4

Where: Sulphur Springs Municipal Building, 201 North Davis St.

On the ballot:

Place 1 —Jay Julian

Place 2 — Harold Nash Sr.

Place 3 — Seth McDaniel and Oscar Aguilar

Sulphur Springs ISD

Election Day: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 4

Where: Sulphur Springs ISD Administration Building Boardroom, 631 Connally St.

On the ballot: Vote for or against the proposed $157.15 million bond package to construct, acquire and equip two new elementary campuses; renovate, expand, update and equip Barbara Bush Primary, Bowie Primary and Douglass Early Childhood Center, to purchase necessary sites for school buildings and interest on the bonds. The bond will be a $0.0025 tax increase.

Sulphur Bluff ISD

Election Day voting: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 4 at SBISD gymnasium foyer.

On the ballot: Issuance of $6 million in bonds for construction, renovation, improvements, acquisition and equipment of school buildings in the district, including necessary sites, and the purchase of new school buses, tax increase of $0.15 in I&S tax rate per $100 tax valuation, raising the overall tax rate.

Cancelled

Lake Fork Special Utility District May 4 Election for three seats on the board has been cancelled. The seats will go to Ken Stribley, Quin Marston and Mickey Delaar.
