Those who have been waiting what seems and interminable amount of time for the new senior citizens' activity center to be completed will finally have an opportunity Wednesday morning (today) to get their first upclose gander of the new city facility.

The City of Sulphur Springs has scheduled a ribbon cutting event at 11 a.m. May 1 at the new facility at 301 Oak Ave. The center will serve as a large gathering place for senior adults that offers many resources and programs, and serve as a distribution center for the Meal A Day program.

Among those expected to be present for the ribbon cutting will be the city manager, city council members, the center director, representatives from Texas Department of Housing and Community Development (the agnecy which awarded the city a Community Development Block Grant-CARES grant), the builders, design team and contractor and manager.

Following the ribbon cutting for the senior citizens center, Signature Solar will hold a grand opening for its supply store, distriution center and design center. Located at 421 East Industrial Drive, the faciltiies are expected to employ 198 full-time team members once open.

Signature Solar's flagship supply store will open May 1 and is positioned inside the distribution cener. The ribbon cutting will commence at noon, with food and dirnks from Miranda's Kitchen.
