Lady Bears qualify for state golf meet

CANTON — The Sulphur Springs Wildcatd golf team finished in second place at Regionals behind a very talented Mabank team, and are headed back to State for the second year in a row. Over the course of two days, the Wildcats shot a 608, which is their best two day total ever, even beating what they shot at State last year (615).

Mitchell records two hits The Sulphur Springs Wildcats suffered their third consecutive loss Friday following a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Paris Wildcats. A sluggish start proved to be too much for Sulphur Springs to overcome, as Paris escaped with an upset win.

Higgins records only hit BULLARD — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats saw their 11-game winning streak come to an end Friday following a 4-0 loss to the No. 16 Bullard Lady Panthers in a playoff warmup game.

Chambly goes 3/3 from plate COMO — The Como-Pickton Eagles snapped their four-game losing streak last Wednesday following a 6-0 shut out victory over the Sulphur Bluff Bears. After an early run, a fifth inning offensive rally would give the Eagles the edge needed to put the game away, leading to the win.

Cumby ends season on high note CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans ended their season on a high note last Monday, edging out the Wolfe City Lady Wolves 1715 at home. Despite trailing for much of the game, an 11-run rally in the sixth inning helped the Lady Trojans come out on top, as Cumby finally put an end to their 10-game losing streak.

Jayden Evans tallies three hits CUMBY — The Cumby Trojans ended their four-game losing streak last Monday by edging out the North Lamar Panthers freshmen team 11-10 at home. After trailing for the majority of the game, a late rally would prove successful, as the Trojans won in walk-off fashion.

Buchanan tallies three hits BIRTHRIGHT — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers ended the regular season on a positive note Friday by shutting out the Bland Lady Tigers 14-0 at Ruth Long Field. Throughout the game, the Lady Panthers outplayed the Lady Tigers at every opportunity and never let their guard down, leading to dominant win.

Carr, Neal record two hits each ALBA — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears suffered a big loss last Tuesday, falling 19-0 to the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers on the road. They would struggle all game and couldn’t establish any rhythm, leading to a loss.
