The Sulphur Springs Wildcats hosted the McKinney North Bulldogs Monday night in their preseaon finale and got the win, 40-29.

The Wildcats opened the game struggling to find their rhythm offensively and trailed 11-7 at the end of the first quarter. North McKinney ran a very slow-paced motion offense with the goal of winning the time of possession and preventing the Wildcats from finding a flow on offense.

In the second quarter Sulphur Springs and McKinney North each scored 10 points and went into halftime with the deficit the same, 21-17.

Sulphur Springs made adjustments during halftime and started the second half with a very aggressive style of defense, trapping the Bulldogs and forcing them to turn the ball over. Refusing to pick up the pace on offense, McKinney North was only able to score 8 points the entire second half, while the Wildcats had a 23-point half to cap off the comeback, winning 40-29.

Sadaidriene Hall and Cameron Kahn led the team in scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Other scorers for the Wildcats were Grayson McClure, who had 6 points on a pair of 3-pointers, Boo Wilkerson with 5, Justin Haire 2 and Lamodrick Johnson 2.

Sulphur Springs will begin district play Friday Jan. 17 in Greenville. The Freshmen team will start at 5 p.m. with the JV and Varsity to follow.
