GREENVILLE — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats had their first district matchup of the year Tuesday night, in a road game against Greenville. The Wildcats had gone eight straight games without a loss entering the game.

Sulphur Springs was able to get the 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Omar Hernandez and Alejandro Diosdado. Both goals were unassisted.

“We were undefeated in our last nine games,” Coach Alexi Upton said. “This was a real ugly and sloppy game because of the weather. There was not a lot we could do.”

The JV team also picked up a win Tuesday night, as they shut Greenville out in a 4-0 game. Joshua Tavera, Uriel Santa Cruz, Stratton Salverino and Edgar Salazar each scored a goal in the victory.
